An Alternative To No Garage At All: The Carport

By | Oct 22, 2009 | 0 Comments | Rating: 0

Your home is perfect, laid out just the way you like it on a good sized piece of property, but it is missing something. When it was built, they did not put up a garage. The expense of adding one after the fact can be daunting, but a carport is an inexpensive alternative to this.

With many styles to choose from, one is available to fit your needs and match your home. Available in many colors and sizes, the carport can be constructed in a weekend and last for years. With a little help this can be a fun project for you while saving money at the same time.

Most carport roofs are available in three different materials, aluminum, steel and fiberglass. The posts are generally made of steel but there are aluminum ones available also. The aluminum ones, being the lightest, are the easiest to handle when putting up.

The aluminum carports offer plenty of protection but in areas with high winds or severe weather, these are not recommended. The steel ones will withstand harsh climates much better. These also are not that difficult to put up, but require some assistance.

The aluminum carports are also relatively inexpensive and as you get in to the larger sizes and heavier materials, the cost increases. Researching online then purchasing locally is a good idea, but shop around for the best shipping prices as this can sometimes dramatically increase your overall costs.

Whatever the use for your carport is, whether it be for your favorite toy or that project car you have been working on, you are sure to find one that suits your needs. Invite your friends over and make it a party, this insures plenty of help. These do not take long to put up and the more hands you have, the faster this will go.
