An Introduction to The Spy Pen

So you fancy yourself as a bit of a 007 and like to idea of all the gadgets and gizmo's that go with it. So what exactly is a spy pen? A spy pen camera is a device designed to allow you to carry out covert or discreet surveillance of a person or room. It allows you to record the activities around you completely undetected for a short period of time and offers you the chance to pick up some unique and interesting information.

There are a couple of types of spy pen available on the market today each with its own particular skills set and designed purpose and each fills its role relatively well.

The first is the spy pen video camera, or spy pen camcorder. This is the most popular type of spy pen; it allows you to record constant footage several hours long. Spy pens of this variety contain a small lens located in the upper section of the pen, contained inside the pen it sees out of a pin sized hole.

The second variety is the audio spy pen or spy pen voice recorder. These have less of a following but are usually more successful in the goals as they don’t need a clear line of sight to record their target. This version of the spy pen is normally of a high quality. The technology has existed for many years now to create very small microphones with a good level of sound clarity. They have good noise canceling attributes and offer the user a good quality and reliable device.

The last type is a still image spy pen. These types of spy pens normally take single image snap shots. They have been used a lot in taking photo’s of prototype products and stealing information which has given them a bit of a bed reputation, but don’t let this put you off. They are great little tools to have on your person that are inexpensive and allow you to capture than unexpected all-important moment.

All three variations of the spy pen come in digital recorder versions. This ensures that all the footage, audio tracks and images you produce are in a format that is easily transferable between different hardware and playback devices.
