Anti-Aging Skin Care: Additional Skin Care Tips to Prevent Wrinkles

By | Mar 28, 2011 | 0 Comments | Rating: 1

Everyone wants to have youthful looking skin, but not everyone is willing to take the time to implement anti-aging skin care habits. If you want great skin in your 30’s, 40’s 50’s and beyond, then start now to prevent wrinkles and premature aging. Obviously, the earlier you start the better, but even if you begin an anti-aging regimen now, you can still reap the benefits as your skin matures. To minimize the effects of aging skin, follow these tips below.

Minimize Wearing Make-Up or None at All

Don’t get me wrong make-up is great and all, but I personally feel it ages the skin. If you don’t agree then let me ask: have you ever seen one of those women who always wear make-up without any on? Sorry, but they look exhausted and much older than they really are where they need to have their make-up. Now imagine a girl starting to wear make-up at 14, 15, or 16 years old and doing so consistently throughout her young adult years. How do you think her skin will look like when she’s in her 30’s? All that tugging and manipulation of the skin as you apply and take off make-up, especially under the eyes, can cause fine lines and even worse, wrinkles. Therefore, one of my anti-aging tips is to avoid or at least minimize wearing make-up as much as possible.

Watch Your Facial Expressions

Making a conscience effort to pay attention to your facial expressions can help slow the process of aging skin. Now I’m not saying to not laugh, smile, or frown, but I am saying that if your face starts feels tight and dry, then yes, be conscious about your facial expressions. When your face feels tight and dry, it means that your skin is lacking moisture. As is, the skin loses moisture beginning in your 30’s, so don’t add to the aging process by frowning unnecessarily or laughing too hard. Otherwise, fine lines around your eyes and mouth can easily develop. For aging skin, it’s important to hydrate your face with a thick moisturize every morning and night and be sure to use it liberally.

Wear Eye Cream

To prevent wrinkles under eyes, wear eye cream. Since eye cream can sometimes be costly, as an alternative you can use petroleum jelly mixed in with a little of your face moisturizer or use unrefined castor oil that you can find at your local health food stores. Always use your ring finger when applying anything around your eyes. The skin under the eyes is the most delicate part of your face and it is the easiest area to develop fine lines. That’s why as part of an anti-aging skin care regimen I say not to wear make-up because there is too much manipulation of the skin.

Don't Forget your Hands and Neck

Obviously it’s important to wear sunscreen whenever you go outside, but most people ignore their hands and neck which are tell-tell signs of your real age. Your face can look like you’re in your 20’s, but if your neck and hands are riddled with wrinkles, you won’t fool anybody. Therefore, don't forget your hands and neck when applying sunscreen. To add, just like you need to apply moisturizer to your face each morning and night, again the same goes with your hands and neck as well. Use a separate firming night cream for your neck if you like and apply lotion to your hands and body after contact with water for soft and smooth skin.

Here are few more anti-aging tips to help keep your aging skin looking youthful and how to prevent wrinkles: eat less processed foods, avoid sleeping on your stomach where your face is pressed against your pillow or sheets, and don’t smoke or quit because smoking robs your skin of moisture which causes premature aging.
