Anti Aging Treatments
The sands of time are marching on! No matter what we do, we cannot stop the appearance of telltale signs of aging. But we can resort to several options to ward off wrinkles and other skin damage and keep them out of our faces for a long period of time. The first thing we have to remember is to keep good care of our skin. An ounce of prevention is truly worth a pound of cure in this case. If we are able to provide the necessary precautions, we can very well prevent the untimely appearance of unsightly signs of aging on our faces. Remember to always moisturize and wear sunscreen. However, we will still need a little help from our friends, the dermatologist and cosmetic surgeon.
This article outlines some of the treatments you can ask your doctor about. These help to diminish, and even remove wrinkles found beside the eyes and the mouth, the forehead, and the neck.
Fraxel Laser Treatment This causes peeling so that the skin is "encouraged" to heal and regenerate itself. The laser is applied on the problem areas but is not allowed to penetrate the outer protective barrier of the skin. You will need more than one treatment for this, as this is done by treating the face spot by spot. Also, there will be some flaking and peeling after the treatment.
Face lifts There are different kinds – various treatments are best suited to a certain age group. You can opt for a deep plane lift, a mid face lift and a thread lift. These treatments lift the skin in the problem areas so that these appear tauter and firmer. Be sure to go only to the trained and fully equipped surgeons.
Chemical peels This is done by using chemicals to remove layers of skin. The intensity of the chemicals (and the subsequent peeling) depends on the degree of damage that needs repairing. After the peel has fully healed, you will enjoy a more vibrant and younger-looking outer layer. However, you should expect some redness and swelling. Be sure to also stay away from the sun.
Dermabrasion The upper layers of the skin are treated with the use of a brush or file (that rotates at high speeds). The treatment scrapes away aging skin, as well as promotes the growth of new cells. Be sure to allow your skin to heal for one or two weeks. There will be some pain and swelling resulting from the treatment.
At any rate, the best person to go to is a licensed and qualified professional. Be sure to ask questions about the treatment you are considering so that you know what to expect.
