Pottery has been an important part of China for more than six thousand years. Up until the 1600's, Portugal has imported Chinese pottery to many places in Europe, the decorative works became so popular, it became difficult to supply the demand. Many love and collect pottery from China even today. Collectors hunt for antique Chinese pottery in places. It is important to find authentic antique Chinese pottery in their specified class. Fake pieces are found almost everywhere you look.

Much of the antique Chinese pottery can be found at auctions or estate sales. These are places where antique items that are passed on from one generation to the next can be found. Professionals appraise these pieces to establish a realistic market prices for buying them. It will cost a good amount of money, but that is because authentic antique pottery from China is popular. These pieces will clearly be real because of their high monetary values that are accurate with market costs.

There are some online antique stores that sell Chinese pottery. However, resale costs of these items can be low because they may not be authentic. Many of them may be counterfeit items.

This type of seal is known as a reign mark. Some pieces may have reign marks that do not match the particular era that the pottery was supposedly made in. These pieces are clearly counterfeit ones.

A library or web search will have detailed information on antique Chinese pottery and information on how to find authentic pottery or to identify if something is not legitimate. This includes details on exact reign marks and styles to look for.

Acquire the knowledge needed. When thinking about purchasing online make sure the pictures are clear. You want to see the bottom mark well. Ask questions, even ask for certain specific photos that will clarify your questions.

Finding authentic antique Chinese pottery can be challenging, there are so many counterfeit items that are not authentic floating around the marketplace. By using these tips it will make things easier to find authentic antique Chinese pottery.
