Types Of Dresser Drawer Pulls

As previously stated there truly are many different types of styles of dresser drawer pulls but overall there are three basic forms they come in including dresser drawer knobs, folding handles, and stationary handles. Understanding the differences of each and why one type of drawer pull is better for you than another can be an important first step in deciding which drawer pull to buy.

Clear Glass Cabinet Knobs
Dresser drawer knobs are the simplest and typically the least decorative type of cabinet pull used. These are typically stationary pieces of metal, plastic, glass, or wood which protrude from the cabinet or drawer face. The knobs are probably the lest likely part to break as there are no moving parts however many people do not care for them because they can snag clothing or other items as you pass buy.

In addition to knobs there are the stationary cabinet handles which typically protrude from the drawer or cabinet face from two points like a round or square bow. Depending on the style these types of handles are also quite durable due to their not having any moving parts while they also are more safe for your clothing as many of these types of dresser drawer handles do not have an easy way to snag anything.

The non-stationary type of drawer handles are more commonly found in more decorative and fancy designs. Many vintage antique style dressers have handles which are made solely of metal or of a combination of metal and glass which fold out from the cabinet for use and then rest flush against the cabinet when they are not being used. A fancy gold dresser drawer handle may have a fine piece of glass built into the handle which rests against the drawer while not in use. These types of drawer pulls are more likely to break due to their swivel hinge on either side of the handle.

Of course not all hinged handles are made of fine materials some of the cheapest drawer handles are made of the cheapest materials as well. Some people prefer the design for the lack of a protrusion from a surface but don't care about being fancy, they just want something to work and there are plenty of options available in each style to accommodate this type of shopper.

Great article I just read sookies article on drawer pulls and now I know you really mean handles right. I have not heard this terminology before. Just an ozzie thats why. These can prove to be expensive to do a whole kitchen cupboard setup. Mine have twenty handles. thanks for sharing

Yeah handles, pulls, and knobs are all synonyms for basically the same thing. There are nuance differences in the terms but generally they are all referring to the handle of the drawer.

My wife and I added a whole set of drawer pulls to our kitchen cabinets a couple years ago and it's crazy how fast the prices add up.
