Past life Regression Therapy is technique used with Hypnosis that consists of helping someone recover memories from past lives. The main purpose of Past Life Therapy is one of personal, emotional and spiritual growth. However, some therapists also use it to help patients overcome phobias, fears and other psychosomatic problems when other types of conventional therapy have failed. In many cases, because of the spiritual nature of this therapy, patients have been able to gain lessons of forgiveness, love and emotional intelligence. Past Life Regression Therapy became quite popular in the nineties thanks to Dr. Brian Weiss, the author of the best-selling book "Many Lives, Many Masters".
Past Life Regression is not something new since it is mentioned in old Indian books that also make reference to the concept of reincarnation and karma. The Tibetan monks also believe in reincarnation and sometimes recall other past lives spontaneously while doing meditation. Contrary to what some people might believe, Past Life Regression is a very safe and gentle process when performed by someone trained in Past Life Regression Therapy. Just like, during any other hypnosis session, people are always in control and aware of the experience the whole time. Past life Regression therapy is something that almost anyone can try as long as they are open-minded and able to follow instructions during the session. However, it is not recommended for people who suffer from esquizofrenia, epilepsy or a serious mental condition. While most people can be successful at experiencing what seems to be a past life, there is a small percent of people who might not be able to go deep into hypnosis during the first session and need to practice going into a deeper state in order to access those memories. Another reason that could prevent someone from going into a past life could be repressed or painful memories from the present life that need to be dealt with before trying to undergo this type of therapy.
But, are Past life Regressions real or are they just created by one’s imagination? In recent years, it has been possible to validate the information obtained with the help of historians, archaeologists, researchers, etc., But, not all regressions can be validated, especially if there are no records from that time or place. A few years ago, the CBC channel aired a show called "Past Life Investigation" to help people who experienced a past life, validate the information obtained from the session. In all three cases, it was possible to find strong evidence to prove the information obtained during the regression. However, this does not rule out the possibility that the mind can also make up a story that can also be relevant to the problems experienced in the present life. If this is the case, then what is the point of using Past Life Regression? Whether real or imagined, those who experience what we would call a past life can usually benefit from receiving the lessons of love, forgiveness, healing, wisdom and insights obtained during the sessions. Sometimes the subconscious mind can make up a metaphor to give us insights and to express emotions deeply rooted, kind of like when we have interesting dreams. This experience can be different for many people. Some might experience it as if it is really happening, almost like a dream that seems real, while others simply watch the experience as if they were remembering a childhood memory. Some people are quite visual and see everything clearly, while others are more auditory or kinesthetic and may have to use all the senses to describe what they are experiencing.
Whether real or imagined, a journey into your past lives can always be something exciting and interesting to try. In the end, it's up to you to decide if they are real or imagined. If you are experiencing anxiety, depression, sadness or any other emotions, it might be wise to seek the help of a qualified therapist who can recommend the best type of treatment for you.
