Are Side By Side Refrigerators Better Than Top Bottom Ones?

By | Jun 10, 2010 | 0 Comments | Rating: 0

Modern living today demands more efficient and powerful appliances. This applies particularly to the refrigerator. With its refrigerating cooling cycle, an efficient way to maintain the low temperature in spite of frequent opening of the fridge door is important to preserve the freshness of the food stored inside.

Side by side refrigerators can hold a high capacity of goods. With two vertical doors that open the divided chambers inside, the coldness and freshness of the foods are preserved inside the fridge. Usually, the left side of the fridge is the freezing chamber while the right side is the chilling chamber.

Side by side refrigerators are becoming popular in the market and several brands with different designs for this type of fridge have become available for sale.

Among the products that offer this fridge type are General Electric (GE), Whirlpool, Samsung, Neff, and Dacor. GE refrigerators boast their express thaw and chill features which are available in free-standing and in counter depth models.

Whirlpool features accessories like through-the-door ice and water dispenser, adjustable SpillProof fresh-food shelves, up-front temperature controls, Adjustable SpillGuard glass shelves, and clear gallon door bins.

Meanwhile, Samsung has the following features and accessories in its side by side fridges: door alarm, Twin X AirFlow technology, electronic controls, water filtration system, and gallon storage.

Neff's fridges showcase a stainless steel finishing, with through-the-door ice and water dispenser, electronic controls, and temperature setups.

A Dacor side by side refrigerator on the other hand is for the sophisticated user with a luxury kitchen because it has several advance features. It has an Ingredient Care Center that guarantees the freshness of the taste and texture of cheeses, herbs and meats.

There is also an alarm that beeps when the fridge door is left open. It also alerts when the temperature of the fridge or the freezer reaches an unacceptable level. These refrigerators range in prices from 700 to 8000 dollars.

Side by side refrigerators are worth investing especially if you need a high quality and large capacity storage for your goods. Although their prices are too much for the pocket, they provide optimum convenience with their full-sized compartments for the freezer and chiller.

The main question is... are they better than ones with the freezer on top and the fridge on bottom? It depends on what your priorities are.
