Are You Following The Path In Life That You Want To Be On?

By Edited Nov 21, 2015 4 2

One of the cool things about life you never know where life is going to lead you. Some people purposefully meander all over by taking the so-called “back road” in life. Other people may have their exact life plan laid out for them when they're young. These people may plan to go to college get a job in a certain industry and work that until they retire and to also get a wife, 2 kids, a dog, and a fishing boat.

Regardless of which category you fall into you may find that you will do a lot of meandering in life. Some people intentionally choose the back road in life while others will have it forced upon them.

Your life is full of unexpected events that happen in life while you head down your paths in life. Unexpected events in life can include an unexpected divorce, the death of a loved one, cancer, mental illness, and countless other things can lead us down a path that we never expected to be on in life. Not all unexpected events are tragic.

Regardless of where you're at in life or where you want to be it is important for you to stay focused on the things that are important to you in your life and to also stay focused on those goals that you have for yourself.

Here are some tips to help you stay on track in life.

There will always be setbacks in life. Nobody has a perfectly fluid life where everything goes according to plan. When a setback does occur it can be hard to stay motivated and positive. Look towards people that have had setbacks similar to yourself. If you just found out that your spouse is cheating on you and you're getting prepared for a nasty divorce then talk to or read about other people that have gone through similar situations.

Remember that you can also use setbacks to help propel you forward in life faster than you ever thought possible. Instead of whining about your situation and turning to drugs or alcohol you instead should be focused on what you'd like to do in life and what is important to you in your life. Setbacks should allow you a time of reflection. Anytime there's a failure in your life you can use that failure to help you achieve better success in the future.

The Future

Cool Dog
We often talk about what we want to do in the future, the goals we have for the future, and what we hope to achieve in the future. This is great because these are the things we need to do however; you also need to realize that the future begins now.

instead of procrastinating and making excuses for why you can't do what you want to do you instead need to get your dang butt off the couch and begin working toward your goals and dreams now.

Life on earth is not endless. Eventually we all will die in our mortal life. When we die religious people will go to heaven and atheists will be going to the ground. Regardless of your religious views you need to realize the life on earth is precious and we should always make the most of it. Instead of wasting the next 7 to 10 years procrastinating on following your dreams you instead should begin working towards your dreams and goals starting right this minute regardless of what your dreams and goals may be.

Who Cares!

"Who Cares" what you do in life. Often times we let other people's perception of us guide us on our path here on Earth. Maybe you have always wanted to be a ballet dancer but you are embarrassed to do it because you’re a 40 year old man with a big beard and a big pot belly. Maybe you've always been interested in ballet (or whatever your true passion is) but you don't get involved because you're worried of being mocked and ridiculed. The fear of being teased and mocked by others guides you in the direction of never fulfilling your dreams in life. The motto of "who cares!" should be the guiding principle in your life.

100 years from now who's going to care that you were a ballet dancer? It is your life and you will die one day regardless of whether you lived a life of happiness or a life of regret. Come out of the closet with your passions. Pursue those activities that interest you regardless of what others may think or say. It’s your life to live and if you choose to be a belly dancer as a 40 year old male then you go ahead and do it regardless of what other people may think because you're not hurting them in anyway.

Laughter is often one of those overlooked principles they can help keep you on the correct path in life. What is the correct path for your life? What paths should you take in life? only you can answer that but regardless of what paths in life you end up on laughter and enjoying life will make it much easier to continue traveling down a path of your choosing. Laughter is vital to humans. You not only should laugh a lot but you should also help make other people laugh.
