If you have a waterbed and you are looking for a new set of bed sheets to give new life to your mattress, then you are in for a treat. Now, more than ever, you can find great luxury bedding and sheets for your waterbed. Consider the trend that happened with waterbeds some years back. They were once the ‘in’ bed to have. You could control the temperature the wave motion, etc. They were so popular. Then, along came the futon and that changed the game a bit.

Actually, the futon and waterbed are similar in many respects. The mattress dimension is thicker (taller) and both have rounded corners. This makes them unique and requiring of different sheets than your traditional mattress. Waterbed sheets are nothing more than regular sheets made to fit that unique mattress shape and style. Likewise, futon sheets are the same. While water bed sheets may be slightly harder to find in a brick and mortar store, they are quite readily available online. In fact, some websites actually cater to this market specifically.

What About Those Luxury Sheets?

Yes, you can find the same luxurious sheets for your water bed as you would for your traditional mattress. As mentioned, the main difference is really in the dimensions, not the materials. Well, it may make some impact with the material options if you have something very specific in mind. However, if you are simply looking for some luxury sheets like some Egyptian cotton or other high thread count sheets, then that isn’t a problem.

Materials like satins and silks, along with the high thread count Egyptian cottons usually round out the top of the luxury list. However, natural bedding ideas like organic cotton and bamboo sheets are making strides. If you haven’t heard of bamboo being used as a fabric yet, you will. It is being used in some clothing as well as bedding. Bamboo has some very unique properties that make it both environmentally friendly as well as healthy. It has natural antimicrobial properties that make it a great idea for bed sheets. These ‘green sheets’ are just part of the overall trend toward more sustainable and healthy living practices going on in our world. So, the next time someone says “water bed sheets are luxurious?”, you can just smile.

You are absolutely right on the thickness and rounded corners on waterbeds making them different but another big difference is the length of the mattresses in the wood frame waterbeds. King, Queen and Super Single size waterbeds are all 84" in length as compared to conventional King and Queen mattresses at 80" and Fulls and Twins at 75".

Great quality and inexpensive waterbed sheets may be found at www.AwesomeWaterbeds.com where questions may be asked and answered as well.
