Advice for women on having success in the Male dominated business world

For centuries, women have been thought of as ‘home caretakers’ which is quite true to a certain extent.

However, that does not stop them from entering the world outside their houses. In fact, over the years, there have been numerous women who proved to the world that they are no less than men. Take for example Oprah Winfrey - an American actress, TV show host and philanthropist who is known as the most influential woman in the world today, the richest African American of the 20th century and the most popular African American philanthropist in history. Her television show has won numerous awards and was known as the best TV show that has run on American television. Her achievements make the world proud of women, and those who feel inferior being women should learn from her. Aside from Oprah, there are numerous women today who are an inspiration for others. Another similar name is of Princess Diana who left us all some years back, but still remains an inspirational figure for many.

Unfortunately, many women today believe that they cannot step into the world and achieve what they want just because of their gender. In fact, some of them think that they are not allowed to have ambitions and goals in life because their fate was sealed when they were born as females. However, the twist of fate is that achievements do not have restrictions based on your sex. They are always there for you to achieve, and it doesn’t matter whether you are a woman or a man. Anyone who works hard to ‘achieve’ will get the fruits of her labor!

This age is thought of as the age of technology and business. We see a number of new businesses emerging on the surface everyday. True, most of the business tycoons today are men, but that does not mean women can’t reach that stage. A number of women out there today aspire to become successful businesswomen, but they are unable to break their own shells. And, you cannot deny the fact that for a woman, reaching the apex of success is relatively harder

The responsibilities a woman bears can surely make her confused when it comes to her professional goals. For this very purpose, this guide has been created. The following pages are dedicated to all those women who want to be successful in their businesses and at the same time focus on their other responsibilities as well.

What Does Success Mean to You?

The first step to success is to know what success is for you. This can be quite confusing because a number of factors, such as the environmental factors, relationships and so on, have a major effect on what you do. You may aspire to be the richest person in the world, but this goal can be the result of an influence which one day will fade off and you will find yourself in the middle of nowhere.

In other words, if you don’t know what you want, you won’t be happy even if you get everything you thought you wanted. Happiness lies within you, and to accomplish your dreams, you must first determine what your goals are.

Think about it – do you want to acquire the highest position in your company because you love that job or because you love working in that particular company? There is a thin line between both clauses, but this single line can be the cause of your downfall if you don’t make it broader. In short, you need to determine your exact goals and then work on them accordingly.

Follow these tips to determine what success exactly means to you:

- Make a list of your current goals.

- Create two categories - Long term goals and short term goals.

- Pick your goals from the list you created and place them in the appropriate category.

- Now, create another column for reasons and state the reasons of each of your goals; why you want to achieve it? What inspires you? And so on.

  • Once the reasons are there, you need to ponder over them and think whether those reasons are right for you or not.

Tip: Make sure your reasons actually connect with your goals. If you wish to be at the highest position in your news agency, for example, but journalism itself is of no interest to you, then your goal will be unachievable because you are simply not interested in the field. The only possible reason why you expect so much is that you like working in that firm. On the other hand, if you are a true journalist but are currently not working where you should, you need to make your move in order to kiss success.

Remember, you need to separate the success piece of the puzzle from the rest of your life in order to focus on it the right way. Follow these tips, be honest to yourself and you will surely know where you are headed and whether you need to change your direction or not.
