When space is at a premium, it can be hard to get creative.  Sometimes this means fighting with meal time and piling your creations on the floor, or having to put things away so that the kitchen table can be used for homework.

If you feel like your creativity is being squashed simply because there is not the room for your hobby, then check out these options.  I too had to find a way to have my arts and crafts as part of the household.  It can be done and there are affordable products that will help you to keep your supplies organized.

Nothing worse than having all your things out, then having to put them away right in the middle of a project just so the table is clear for other things, and this is when I noticed bits and pieces and tools would go missing or get ‘borrowed”.

Your art storage is important.  No matter what your craft, whether it is sewing, quilting, embroidery, painting or drawing, it doesn’t matter, you still need a space to call home for the associated supplies.

If you simply can’t have an entire room dedicated to your hobby then try and take over a “corner”.  Whether it is the corner of the living room, dining room, or even your bedroom or hallway, if you get the right type of storage you will be amazed at just what you can store and what can be at your fingertips when it is needed.

If you want your things to be more portable then you can get lightweight cases with drawers that you can take anywhere, but it is still nice to have a corner with your name on it, where you can simply keep all your hobbies in one spot ready at a moment’s notice.

I don’t know about you, but if I have to put a lot of time and effort into setting up, then I tend to not get started.  I like it when I can leave things out ready for when I become inspired or easily put away.  So you need to examine your “crafting style” to see which type of art storage would work best for you.

You also need to watch your budget, you can get many things at discount stores but you can also get lots of cool things online at Amazon.

Armoire Cabinet

If your budget allows then this is the cream of the crop.  This will fit everything you need all in one very good looking space.  You wouldn’t even know it was an arts and crafts supply storage and instant work top.

Once you open those doors you can pull out a table for your sewing machine, or simply to draw or work on.  There is ample shelf space and cabinet space and yet it can all be put away neatly.

This doesn’t take up a lot of space but holds a boat load of stuff.   All you need is a little floor and wall space for this unit.  It could fit nicely in a dining area or part of the living room or even the bedroom or the spare bedroom.  As long as you have the lighting, you can put this anywhere even in a small space.

Organizer Cart on Wheels

If you just can’t afford the space for a permanent unit, then another consideration is a storage cart on wheels.  This can be kept in a closet out of the way when not in use, and yet once you pull it out to your work area, you will have everything you need in the drawers.

I love the idea of everything in one spot, and drawers are very handy.  Having this on wheels means you can fill up the drawers at the end of your session and put it away.  It is gook looking and neat and could be pushed into any corner out of the way when you need the space for something else.

This would be perfect for scrapbooking and painting.  These drawers are deep enough to hold all kinds of supplies and paints.  It even has a work surface on top which is perfect for cutting out paper or assembling items.

Tool Box

This is the ultimate in portability.  If you not only like to work on your arts and crafts at home but at a friend’s house or take it to class, then having everything you need in a easy to carry tool box works well too.

The shelves open out just like a tackle box, but this would be for all your supplies.  So you can have fun organizing it and seeing just what you have.

Art Storage

Once you have decided on a form or storage or work area, now the fun part.  Haul out all those boxes you have all over the house and see just what you have.  You may be surprised to find you have more supplies than you thought because they were buried deep in a drawer or bags around your space.

Get organized and you will spend your hobby time actually creating instead of trying to find everything.
