Arthritis Muscle Pain
Arthritis is an inflammation of the joints and usually affects people as they get older. Symptoms can include aching, burning, stiffness, redness, warmth and even a palpable swelling of the affected joint. Arthritis occurs most frequently in joints such as the knees, elbows, shoulders, hips and in spinal vertebrae. There are over 100 types of arthritis. Some of these include rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis (i.e. in vertebrae), tendinitis and even gout.
There are many treatments for arthritis. Some of these include rest from physical activity, ice, heat, medication, dietary changes and exercise. Ice can provide tempory relief as it causes vasoconstriction, which is a narrowing of the blood vessels. Ice treatment or crymotherapy temporarily reduces inflammation and pain through vasoconstriction by limiting the flow of blood or lymph fluid to joints that are affected by arthritis. Ice is most effective if it is compressed directly against the joint and used during the first 48 hours after the onset of pain. Whenever possible, it also helps to elevate the joint above heart level when icing to enhance inflammation reduction. Arthritis Muscle Pain can be reduced by using this technique.
Anti-inflammatory medications such as naproxen and ibuprofen can also be effective in reducing arthritic swelling and pain. These medications are Cox-2 inhibitors which limit the production of Cox-2 enzymes and prostaglandins (chemicals) in the body. Limiting the production of these natural body inflammatory responses can prevent arthritis pain and swelling from getting out of control. Celebrex and other drugs are also designed for treating arthritis symptoms. Celebrex has enabled many people to perform activities that they had previously been prevented by arthritis pain.
Dietary changes are often recommended for people with arthritis. Some alternative medicine practitioners believe that some arthritis inflammation can be caused by an overgrowth of candida albicans in the body. This fungus lives naturally in the body but can overproduce when people have food allergies or take too many antibiotics or corticosteroids. Toxins from the fungus can enter the blood stream and invade cells and tissues, leading to certain diseases such as arthritis. One way to reduce this inflammation is through juicing with vegetables. Nutrients and vitamins from vegetables have natural healing capabilities. Drinking vegetables after blending them gets to the blood stream faster and, hence, can go straight to the source of pain for relief.
Exercise can also help arthritis pain. Stretching and resistance exercises (i.e. weightlifting) promote blood (with its healing properties) flow to the affected joints suffering from Arthritis Muscle Pain.
