Audio Production Ideas For Building An Internet Business

By | Apr 15, 2010 | 0 Comments | Rating: 0

Are you wondering how to turn your audio production skills into an income?
Your solution might be going online. There is a huge potential for audio products on the web.
Here are a few ideas:

- Online mastering services. If you are an experienced professional, you can set up your audio mastering business on the web. Put up a website showing your references, maybe a photo of your studio, and then let clients upload their mixes to your ftp-server. When the master is done, the client simply downloads the master-file. Payment can be done with one of the many online payment services out there.

- Audio branding is kind of a new concept, where a company has a certain sound or tune associated with their name. This is also referred to as an audio logo, as its function is the same as a graphic logo. An audio logo is valuable in todays visually crowded advertisement market. Get in touch with some marketing people and offer your services online.

- Producing and selling ringtones for cellphones. This is easy. You just sit in your audio recording studio and churn out little tunes, funny noises and so on. You then provide these as paid downloads on your website. Some folks like to download ringtones straight to their phones, and software is available to allow you to set your site up for that. Payment via credit card, PayPal or a similar service. Some provide subscriptions, letting customers download a certain number of ringtones every month. This can be a good way to get returning customers.

- Making "on-hold" music. This is often quite non-descript, harmless elevatormusic - and while it may not be the most fun to produce, it certainly is in high demand. This stuff could also be sold as background music for websites, or..well...elevator music!.

- Recording and compiling sample-sets for electronic muscicians. Producers and musicians are always looking for fresh sounds to use in their tunes, so get creative and make some for them! Anything from under-water mandolin playing, to Tibetan temple bells will do. Served chilled as a paid download of course, and maybe lure them in with free sound samples first!

I hope these ideas gave you some inspiration for developing your own internet audio production business. Good luck!
