Avoid Cold Calls in Network Marketing

Cold calling is a very old technique that was once heavily promoted in the network marketing industry in order to get new leads. Now a days, there really is no need to cold call people thanks to the millions of people who use the internet. The internet allows you to target people who are looking for your business opportunity. This means no more cold calling and putting up with rejection.

Why Cold Calling Doesn't Work Well in Network Marketing

People take their privacy seriously and almost every household now uses caller ID or other phone screening service provided by phone companies. Some people even have their numbers added to "do not call" lists.

Even if you did get through, people are wise to the sales pitch. They know when you are trying to pitch something and will probably stop you before you even have the chance to get going.

Another reason why cold calling isn't a good idea for network marketers is because this method isn't easily duplicable. Not everyone does well on the phone so why bother teaching your team about cold calling? Chances are they will not want to do it and they sure won't want to teach their downline about it either.

Alternatives to Cold Calling

A much better alternative to cold calling is using the internet to attract targeted leads. You can do this by writing articles and submitting to free article directories. Be sure to link your web site in your article bio's or signatures. You can also create blogs based around the topic of your business.

Social networking sites also work well for attracting leads. You can create accounts on popular sites like Facebook, MySpace, and Twitter. Just be sure not to spam these web sites with too many posts about your business. Provide helpful information and your occasional info about your web site or business.
