1. Enlist the help of friends or family. When you let other people know what your goals are, they will usually be very supportive and will help encourage you in your efforts. Another benefit of telling others is that it makes it harder for you to backslide because you know people are watching you.

2. Get all temptation out of the house. If you think you can resist those chips, forget it. In a moment of weakness, you may try and negotiate with yourself, or even fool yourself into thinking that a few little chips won't hurt. Out of the house and the temptation will be much less.

3. Plan ahead for those times when you know you usually get hungry or want a snack. Don't wait until you are craving a candy bar; have a healthy, low-calorie snack ready to grab when you start to feel a bit hungry.

4. Drink five to six cups of green tea each day. Studies have shown that green tea is loaded with many health benefits, but it is also effective in helping to burn fat and calories.

5. Eat several small meals each day. By eating five or six small meals, rather than three larger meals, you will keep your metabolism burning at is peak performance. This can help burn more calories, which translates into more weight loss.

6. Get up and move. It's hard for many people to find the time in their busy day, but exercise is crucial to good health and weight loss. Look for ways to increase the amount of steps you take each day.
