Essential Travel Gear

You better not leave home without the essential backpacking gear for your trip

As a frequent traveler, I have come to the realization that purchasing the proper travel gear before your backpacking trip is essential to make your travel experience as stress free as possible.  I have been to 74 countries and have traveled for about 2 and a half years of my life.  I have gotten to the point where I can pack for a trip in a half hour and know that I will be ok.  How do I know that?  I have developed a specific list of essential items I never leave home without.

There are many items that are recommended by different travelers on the Internet, so I will keep my list short and sweet.  Many recommended items are great to have, but aren't absolutely essential.  However, here are three specific items that I never leave home without.  You should find your essentials and be sure to always make those items a priority.  Here is my list:

1. Berkey Water Purifier Bottle

At only $16.79 I never leave home without this water bottle.  With unsafe tap water or expensive bottled water all over the world, you can use this bottle for months knowing that you will never get sick from drinking dirty water.  I have filled it up with stream water, dirty tap water, and rain water, and have yet to get sick.  Truly a great purchase.

2. Anker Portable Charger

At only $21.99 and the size of an iPhone, this external battery charger will keep all of your electronics charged while you are on the road.  I use this thing constantly and it has yet to fail me.  This thing has enough juice to charge the iPhone 4 and a half times!  That is a lot better than most products you can find in this price range.  I would highly recommend this to any traveler.

 3. Outlander Lightweight Daypack Backpack

Any quality lightweight daypack backpack will work, but it is an essential item to bring with you for your trip.  This lightweight daypack folds up very small into itself and is durable enough to carry a lot of weight.  It has yet to fail me and I really pushed the limits.  This bag, and others, go for around $18.98 on Amazon.  It really is a good price for the convenience.

Like any frequent traveler, I find my style and purchase the necessary items to suite my needs.  Be sure to shop around before making any impulse purchases to make sure that you buy the right products for you.  Let me know if you have a specific travel accessory that you never leave home without.

Happy travels!
