Bad hair transplants are a balding person's worst nightmare. Have you ever thought about getting a hair transplant yourself? It has happened to many people. Botched hair transplants used to happen a lot more often in the past than in present times. When people went in to get a strip of donor hair excised from the back of their heads, they were cut up beyond belief by an amateur with hardly any experience. Their wounds were not sewn shut with fine thread, but stapled shut with coarse staples. These people have developed massive infections and scarring on the back of their heads as a result of this treatment.

But not only the backs of their heads have been maimed in this fashion. Also the top of their heads, where recipient wounds have to be made to take the hairs to be transplanted have become infected and have developed scar tissue. As a result of this, the transplanted hairs started pointing in all directions except for the right ones. Their hairlines are made from grafts containing 3 or 4 hairs, giving them the dreaded doll hair effect. Many people who have been victimized by bad hair transplants, have decided to shave their heads bald because they just couldn't stand the results. But their heads are scarred and maimed, so whether they grow their hair or shave it, they always feel like they look ridiculous.

Can you imagine becoming the victim of a botched hair transplant? What a horror that would be. You'd think a hair transplant clinic couldn't get away with screwing up this bad, with this many people for this many years. And yet, this is exactly what has happened in the past. Recently, things have been getting a little better. The technology has improved, costs have dropped and through experience doctors now take the invasiveness of the whole procedure a little more serious. But it took many years of complaining customers to get to this point. How they could've gotten away with it for that many years is beyond my understanding. I'm just glad the nightmare of bad hair transplants is starting to fade from existence in the recent years.
