Barefoot running in becoming increasingly popular as more and more people realise the benefits. You can increase not only your CV fitness and running pace, but also your balance and agility by running barefoot. Barefoot running shoes have made it so much easier to gleen all the benefits of barefoot running on the streets and roads of cities.
As more studies are conducted into running and running injuries, more and more evidence is pointing towards running shoes actually being the cause of many common running injuries. One such study actually found that the more expensive a running shoe, the more likely the wearer is to suffer an injury. With runners using low-end trainers having a far less frequent injury rate. Most runners will have experienced some form of discomfort either during or after a run, and this can range from sore, aching feet right through to some of the more serious running injuries such as shin splints, Illiotibial Band Syndrome or even knee complaints in various forms. All of these kind of running injuries take time to heal and will undoubtedly require some time out from any knid of running schedule to allow them to heal properly. In fact in some cases, injuries such as shin splints can make even walking uncomfortable. The main reason that standard running shoes can lead to these kind of injuries is that they provide support to your feet that is unnatural, which means you then run in a way that is not natural for your body. This in turn puts strain and stress on muscles and bones that should not be put under stress while you are running, which can cause aches, pains and injury.
Barefoot running shoes on the other hand, provide no support to your feet, only protection, and as such allow you to run as your body is designed to. It has been shown that barefoot running results in very few, if any injuries as you are running naturally, without putting any undue strain on any part of your body. One of the main reasons for this is that barefoot running shoes allow you to strike the ground with the ball of your foot, which is how we are designed to run. Supportive trainers make you strike the ground with the heel of your foot, which send shockwaves through your musculoskeletal system in an unnatural fashion. When you strike the ground with the ball of your foot, the impact is distributed properly through your musculoskeletal system, with your bodys natural shock absorbers minimising the impact and making running an altogether less stressful experience for your body. Barefoot running shoes make sure that you get all the benefits from running, without risking unecessary injury.
