When you purchase a tent you buy it for the years to come. Therefor it is important to know how to take care of your tent. In this article i will give you a couple of tips that help take care of your tent so you can enjoy it for years.

Setting up your tent at home. After purchasing a tent it is very useful to test the tent at home. First of all you want to know if the tent is complete. Count all the poles and all the other items included in your purchase. You do not want to discover on the camping place that you are missing a pole. After checking everything is there you are going to set up your tent. If you do not have a garden to test your tent in, try a field nearby or otherwise even the curb but that is not recommendable. You are setting your tent up at the comfort of your own home because you can decide to do it at your own pace and in good weather conditions. You do not want to learn the tent manual by head when you arrived at night when it is raining and you are tired. Therefor do it in the comfort of your own home and in perfect weather conditions.

Gear to pack for camping. Two items that you need to bring with you on a camping adventure are rope and duct tape. Duct tape can be useful in several occasions like; broken pole, emergency solution if your tent is ripped. Duct tape is strong, flexibel and will hold for a while. The second item is a rope. Make sure it is a sturdy rope so you can use it for multiple things like; clothing line, to keep food away from bears and/ or to secure things at your camp site.

Drying your tent. Often when you go camping you will endure some bad weather. Rain and snow can make your tent wet. It is necessary to dry your tent after every use. There are some products available to freshen your tent.

Buy a tarp. Another essential tip is to buy some sort of tarp to use as ground cloth. It is low cost and will help your tent keep clean from bugs and other uncomfortable things.

Good ventilation. Make sure your tent has good ventilation otherwise you will build up condensation.

With these tips you make sure you can enjoy years to come with your tent.
