Bath Recipes - Make Your Own Milk Bath

By Edited Mar 24, 2016 0 0

If you love to have a relaxing tub, and want simple and yet effective ingredients, then here are a few recipes for you to try. They include ingredients you can usually get at the grocery store, and any other ingredients such as, essential oils, can be purchased at the health food store. These  recipes are simple and inexpensive in comparison to store bought products that tend to line your bathroom shelves!

The basic milk bath

Take 1/3 cup of powder milk

3 tablespoons of cornstarch

2 drops of essential oil (you can get all different aromas of oil, I personally really like the lavender)

Take a clean jar and pour the 1/3 cup of milk powder into the jar with the cornstarch, then put on the lid and give it a good shake. Then take off the lid and add your two drops of essential oil, then put the lid back on and give it another good shake to mix it up.

For your tub, put the contents of the jar into the running water. The milk powder will feel nice on your skin, and this is a refreshing time.

Recipes are fun, because you can try new things and know exactly what is in them. You can add fragrances, or choose to go fragrance free. You have way more control with your own recipes.

Here is another basic one, that most people know about, but don't realize just how easy it is to make.

Oatmeal

If you have itchy skin, or dry skin, this works really well. Take an old sock and fill it half way with plain oatmeal (I use the cooks in one minute Quaker oats) tie off the sock, then throw in the tub and have a good soak. This really conditions the water and helps your skin feel soft and silky.

If you want a nicer aroma with your oatmeal, then try this alternative:

Cinnamon flavor!

1 cup of milk powder

1/2 cup of baking soda

1/2 cup of oatmeal

2 teaspoons of cornstarch

one teaspoon of cinnamon

You can put all of this in a food processor to get it really fine. Then you can add about one half  cup of this to a running tub. You will instantly feel like you have been baking cookies!

Making your own bath recipes, is fun, and natural. Oatmeal especially is a great skin conditioner, and powdered milk can make your skin feel smooth. You don't have to resort to fancy and expensive products from the store to have great feeling skin in a relaxing tub.  Enjoy the relaxing feeling and trying different recipes.
