By Edited Aug 3, 2015 1 2

Slot machines are one of the most profitable games in casinos in the United States and all over the world. This is basically because these machines are very easy to play. It does not require thinking or even a little guessing. You just have put coins in the coin slot, run it and wait for your jackpot.

But have you ever wondered who keeps these machines in good condition? Who ensures that the machines will be free from technical glitches that might jeopardize the game? If not, then allow this article to introduce you to Slot Machine Technicians also known as slot techs.

The Slot Technicians examine, preserve and fix the gambling machines. During the old times when everything were still mechanical, tecnicians would check and see to it that the all gears were in good condition, free from rust and properly oiled. They also check the electricity cables and LED lights being used by the machines.

Today, most, if not all, the machines are already electronically driven. Hence, there are no more wheels, no more gears and no more putting of oil. The technichians nowadays use computerized diagnostics gadgets in order to check and maintain the machines.

In Nevada, in particular in Vegas, where several casinos are running twenty four hours a day and seven days a week, job opportunities for this type of technicians are very numerous. Being a technician specializing in gambling machines could be a little tedious but it pays very well.

If you are interested in being a slot tech, you have to possess the following:

1. You have to be at least a high school graduate to be employed as a slot tech in a Las Vegas casino. However, some casinos would require that you have a basic background in electricity and electronics.
2. You must have a pleasing and presentable personality. Being a slot tech would require you to face clients in the casino because you need to personally verify winners and their numbers as well as you would have to answer some technical questions coming from them.
3. Slot techs should be very trustworthy. This is so because as a slot tech, you have an access to a huge sum of money that could reach up to millions of dollars. Casinos in Las Vegas employ some measures in order to test the reliability of their slot techs.

Because these jobs are very in demand, several community colleges and private training centers offer trainings for later employment in Las Vegas. Associate's Degree Program in Las Vegas takes 375 hours to complete. Included in this course are lessons regarding digital circuits, analysis to possible trouble that circuits may encounter as well as corresponding troubleshooting steps to resolve such trouble. Moreover, the program also includes a class where monitor troubleshooting and ticket printer troubleshooting are being taught. There is also an extensive coaching about slot machine communications, slot machine operations, money validation and several other validation processes. They also include customer service courses. The trainings in Las Vegas can be also enrolled online.

If you think you have the minimum requirements to become a technician in any of the Las Vegas casinos or in any casinos in the United States, do not hesitate to apply. Just make sure that in addition to the minimum requirements mentioned above, you will be able to work during night time or even holidays.
