Be Wary Of Wu-Yi Tea Vendors

You have no doubt heard about Oprah or Rachel Ray supposedly endorsing the next big weight loss phenomenon: Wu Yi Tea. Those two names are some pretty heavy weight endorsements (no pun intended). And those two are the most likely reason so many people are now interested in Wu-Yi Tea. So it goes as no surprise that a couple common questions surrounding Wu-Yi Tea have surfaced as well.

So What Is Wu Yi Tea?

Wu Yi Tea is a close relative of Green and Black Teas. The most common name for Wu-Yi Tea is actually "Oolong" tea. Also sometimes called 'Wulong' tea. Some sellers claim that their tea comes from the Wuyi Mountains and that they derive their tea from a special 'secret' source that lends to the tea's ability to aid in weight loss. But the simple truth is that such 'special' form of Wu-Yi Tea exists. In reality, the tea's primary source of aid to weight loss is it's natural metabolic enhancer: caffeine.

You heard right, caffeine helps with weight loss. This is a commonly known and understood fact. Caffeine causes the body to operate at a 'faster' rate, and thus it depletes stored fat more regularly and quickly. But caffeine is a common word and you say you've heard it being used in dozens of drinks in the supermarket? You would be right!

The fact that Oolong Tea does not contain anything, other than natural caffeine, to help with weight loss, means that the tea is in fact not that special.

They Why Drink Wu-Yi Tea?

Just because it doesn't have any magical power to help you lose those extra vanity pounds, doesn't mean that you can't actually enjoy Wulong Tea. In fact, Wu Yi Tea is often enjoyed for it's inherent taste, and how it can mix with other teas.

So remember, you can enjoy Oolong just like any other tea, just don't expect it to do much more than green or black tea. And if you don't expect it to do more, then why would you pay more for Wu-Yi Tea than other teas?
