Dog Breed Info & Guide: Beagle Lab Mix Cross

The Lab Beagle mix is a very popular breed since it is a mix between two dogs that are commonly found in many households. This kind of mix is popularly known as Beagador or Labbe. Since it is a cross between a Labrador retriever and a Beagle it is known as Labbe Retriever. These dogs are known to be extremely energetic and they love having fun.

What Is A Lab Beagle?

The mixed dog closely resembles both the breeds although it usually has the head of a Beagle. You can spot this breed from afar because of the familiar colors of Labradors that these dogs have on the coat. In fact, you may think that you?re looking at a Labrador from a distance until you come closer and see the dog?s head which resembles that of a Beagle.

This dog is very good-natured and easily trainable due to a high level of intelligence and an eagerness to learn. At the same time you can rely on them to protect your family and they will be very loyal towards you.

They love children and have a gentle nature while also being very playful with kids. It likes the outdoors and very characteristic of Beagles, likes to explore while being outside. Many people like to keep Lab Beagles as a watchdog since they have a habit of barking when they see a stranger approach the house.

How Big Will My Beagle Lab Puppy Get?

This is a dog which will not grow to be very big but will reach a size that will be a bit smaller than the Labrador. However, it will be slightly larger than a typical Beagle and attain a height of 20 to 24 inches and a weight of 30 and 40 lbs. Many dog owners find this very convenient because Labradors can be large and Beagles are usually small so a size that lies between the two is considered good.

What Will The Coat Be Like?

Most of the Lab Beagles get a coat that resembles a Labrador and can have a slight indication of a Beagle?s coat. The texture of the coat is more that of a Labrador with a lot of shedding that is experienced similar to Labradors. The fur is usually black or brown is also similar to that of a Beagle. You can brush it once in a few days and it will remain shiny and soft.

Are There Any Specific Coat Concerns I Should Be Aware Of?

What Will My Dogs Personality Be Like?

While the hybrid will look like both a Beagle and a Labrador you can expect the Beagles personality to be dominant in this mix. It will be a dog that likes the outdoors very much and will do a lot of sniffing around like all Beagles do. At the same time, it will be a strong dog taking the personality trait from Labradors. The dog will be very friendly with kids and will have a very lovable nature.

How Much Exercise Will My Lab Beagle Need?

Similar to a Labrador this is a dog that is highly energetic and needs a good amount of exercise every day in order to spend its energy. Giving it a lot of exercise will also keep it out of mischief and will remain in good health always. You can take the Lab Beagle for a swim as it loves water especially in the river. You can train the dog to play games with which you can also get some exercise done for example, by getting the dog to fetch the ball.

What Are Common Health Concerns?

Similar to Beagles and Labradors the Lab Beagle dog will be prone to seizures as well as hip dysplasia and hence you need to check for symptoms of the same.

How Do I Know If These Dogs Are Right for Me?

If you plan to get a Lab Beagle mix you need to be prepared for taking it outdoors and giving it an active lifestyle. At the same time they are very lovable and friendly with kids so if you have a family with kids these dogs are ideal.
