Benefits of Raw Almond Butter

By | Jan 6, 2010 | 1 Comments | Rating: 0

Raw almond butter is an increasingly popular organic food alternative to peanut butter, which is often loaded with sugars. There are many people who are allergic to peanuts and peanut butter who can actually eat almond butter without any type of allergic reaction whatsoever. In recent years there has been a major shift towards organic and healthy foods, and raw almond butter has become a popular example of how there are tasty alternatives to more conventional foods.

Almonds have a wide array of health benefits that make them an attractive choice for many people. Nutritionally, almonds are heavy in protein, Vitamin E, and fiber. Almonds even have several antioxidant properties that can help the body run more efficiently. Compared to many other nuts, almonds tend to be lower in calories while offering the same (or better) benefits. There are also very few recorded cases of people being allergic to almonds, making them a great alternative to peanuts.

There are some studies being conducted to see if adding almonds to a typical diet can even help to prevent cancer or lessen the effects of Alzheimer's Disease. While the studies haven't been concluded yet, just the fact that there were enough positive benefits to start these experiments shows the potential health benefits that these little nuts have.

Another benefit of raw almond butter is that it is relatively easy to make at home. While the organic raw almond butter you see in the health food sections of grocery stores might sometimes seem unreasonably expensive, anyone with a little patience, a heavy duty food processor, and a pound of almonds can make plenty of almond nut butter spread at home.

There are many people who even prefer the taste and texture of organic almond butter as opposed to peanut butter. This small change often cuts down on calories and sugar eaten while still offering a legitimate alternative for sandwiches, crackers, and other foods that are often enjoyed with peanut butter.

So if you haven't tried raw almond butter yet, and are looking for a healthier substitute to peanut butter, give it a shot. You might be surprised how well the switch takes hold.
