Bespoke Wedding Tiaras

By | Dec 1, 2010 | 0 Comments | Rating: 0

It might seem a bit of a daunting task to have a bridal tiara created just for you particularly because you won't know exactly what the finished piece will look like, so I decided I would give you some background information and things to think about as a starting point.

Your tiara should compliment your face

Since your face shape should be taken into account when you choose your wedding tiara height, follow these simple rule and you won't go wrong. If your face is quite long, you should wear a small tiara or headband which is less than 3 cm high. If you have a round face then opt for a wedding tiara which is 5cm and taller. This will help balance out your face. If your face shape is oval then you can wear and height of wedding tiara and still look great.

The tiaras stones and other materials

The material that your bridal tiara is created from should match any embellishments on your wedding dress so if you've got a dress which sparkles with stunning crystal beads then ensure your bespoke wedding tiara is handcrafted with the same crystal beads; the same applies for diamante stones and pearls.

The metal of your tiara

Generally you should stick to the same metal colour for your bridal tiara that you normally wear on a daily basis, so if silver's your preferred metal then choose a silver coloured wedding tiara. The only exception to this is if you have metallic accents in your bridal dress.

Working with your tiara designer

For your dream bridal tiara to become a reality instead of just an idea in your head you need to be able to convey your thoughts to your tiara designer. One way to do this is collect pictures of designs that are similar and then clearly identify the differences between these images and your dream bridal tiara. Now that you've collected images that have inspired the idea of your dream bridal tiara you will also have the added benefit of showing your designer your unique style.

If you already have a solid idea of what you want your tiara to look like then make drawing of it so you can scan and email it your designer. I've had many brides who have emailed me a drawing and we've worked on it together to create something perfect for them which won't collapse under its own weight, it's a very satisfying experience for both of us.

Buying bepsoke tiaras and your rights

Within the UK purchasing made over the internet are protected by the distance selling regulations which give you 7 days to change your mind and ask for a refund but custom made items where there is a choice of specifications such as crystal, pearl and metal colour are excluded from this 7 day cancellation policy. Bespoke wedding tiaras come under that exclusion but not all tiara designers will make you aware of this before they start creating your product, so if in doubt over their returns policy and it's not clearly stated on the website – ASK, actually if it's not stated on the website, find another tiara designer!

Questions to ask before you pay for your bespoke tiara

There are a number of questions you should ask before starting work with your wedding tiara designer; I've listed some of these below.

How long will it take from designing it to completion?

Your tiara designer should be able to give you a proper time frame when making your tiara That way you'll know when your tiara is due to arrive and can chase with the postal system if it's delayed or lost.

Will my wedding tiara be insured when it's posted?

Your wedding tiara is likely to be posted unless you've met the designer in person so you'll need to make sure it will be insured for loss and damage while in the postpostal system. Check with the designer whether insurance is included in the price or not.

What happens if it gets damaged in the post?

Before handing over any cash make sure you know whose responsibility it is for claiming if it gets spoilt in the post.

How do I place a tiara?

I can think of at least 5 different places a wedding tiara can be worn on the head and I've written a blog post about it. You can find at Wedding And Gems.
