Want the best coffeemakers under $100? The truth is, there are many models but at this price, Cuisinart completely leads the pack.

I’ve really done some research and realized that good coffeemakers have to have speed when brewing, be easy to clean, easy-to-use and handle as well as brew a great cup of coffee anytime you need it.

If you’re just shopping for a coffee maker or need a replacement for an old machine, this guide will help you make up your mind, just read to the very end.

I took the trouble to do this research after I read an article by Michael Hyatt on how to become a morning person and he talked about drinking coffee (made with one of the Cuisinart coffee makers) as one of the reasons for his being able to function well in the morning.

I said to myself if this is working for Michael, it should work for me and I started a search for a coffee maker within my budget of a hundred dollars. Read the results of my findings below.

What to Look Out For When Buying a Coffee Maker

Before you invest in a coffee maker, consider the type of coffee you like; do you like filter, espresso or cappuccino? How often you plan to use your machine and how many people you would be brewing for (there’s no point getting a big machine if you’re the only brewing for one or two people). You may choose a machine with a single spout which makes one cup of coffee at a time.

If you plan to make lots of espressos, please check the water tank capacity; it’s very important.

Drip trays should also be considered before you purchase. Please don’t get a machine that does not have easy to lift and remove drip trays. If the trays are stainless steel, please know they require polishing as well as cleaning.

Speed of brewing is essential as you don’t want a machine that takes too long to brew. On average, a good coffee machine takes less than 15 seconds to make 30ml and stop dripping, while inefficient coffee machines can take up to 30 seconds to release 30ml and a further 30 seconds before they stop dripping completely. You don’t want to waste your time brewing coffee, so, check the speed of brewing before purchase.

Ease of use should also be considered. Can you easily understand the coffee machine and get it to work few hours after getting it? There’s no point getting a coffee machine that will take days to understand and use.
