What's the Best X Bow Under 500 Dollars?
With the growing popularity and increasingly slack-ing legalization across states for the purchase and use of crossbows (during the archery terms), the interest in x horizontal bows is booming. Typically though, this hobby ain't cheap -- some of these state-of-the-art x bows you can easily be priced in excess of $2.5 k.
Obviously this being said, there are some very good deals out there -- where most of the mainstream bow manufactures have produced quality budget crossbows under 500 dollars. And just below, we will explore what is largey regarded as top four budget crossbows for you to consider.
#1 Wicked Ridge Invader
Rating: 4.7 out of 5
The Wicked Ridge crossbow range by TenPoint is what most experienced bowmen hail as being 'the' x bow to go for on a budget (where they arguably offer the best dollar for dollar value on the market when it comes to buying any cross-bow). Here, I have featured the Invader model which is right on the brim of our $500 budget (but you should also see their slightly cheaper Warrior HL crossbow too).
It's quality comes in the fact that its simple, light and reliable. It is fitted with TenPoint's HL limbs as well as the D-75 string & cables. Moreover, it is capable of spitting bolts at 315 fps through CNC machined HP cams. The Invader also comes with the incredibly well regarded power touch trigger mechanisms that provides a 3.5 lb pull offering a smooth and quiet ignition. In all, you simply have to consider this crossbow on such a budget (see more invader specs).
#2 Excalibur Axiom Crossbow
Rating: 4.9 out of 5
Again this is another top, top recommended bow (probably a close second to the Wicked ridge), with many who have used it claiming on how surprisingly light and deadly accurate they have found it to be -- replicating some of the qualities of that in a top of the range model.
This is a wonderfully crafted x bow that can easily hit arrows over speeds of 300 ft per second & as just mentioned above, it is impressively accurate. The Axiom has a 175 lb draw weight as well as a 14.5 inch power stroke to allow it to cock into place smoothly. Its also very light as just 6 lbs, so a long day hunting won't be too bearing on the ole arms. A quality crossbow available at a budget price.
#3 Barnett Ghost 350
Rating: 4.6 out of 5
The Barnett Ghost 350 is one of the most popular crossbows that has ever been produced & there is little wonder why really, given it excels in all the factors you would want from a x bow and is well within our $500 budget too.

First off, it is very light at 7.5 lbs which they attribute largely to their Carbon riser technology -- that distributes the weight to the end of the stock, to offer that ergonomic feel. With this it is obviously easy to carry, however still offers more than sufficient power with it being able to fire a bow at 350 ft per second (best in the range). It also hosts a range of other beneficial features such as its crosswire strings as well as an anti-dry fire metal injection to allow for "smooth, quiet, precise" shooting. A great crossbow overall.
#4 Horton Bone Collector
Rating: 4.2 out of 5
Although, the above three models are the one you should consider seriously, I wanted to give an honourable mention to the Horton Bone collector that I have used only once, but remember being very impressed. As at the end of the day, it is what feels right to you, hence I suggest you try out any bow for at least a a few rounds/ or a field day before making a purchase and this just felt right for me (despite not being the most popular of x bows).
