Best Deals on Mobiles Right Now

By Edited Feb 13, 2014 0 0

Buying a new mobile is pretty hefty investment for most people. It's not like we can all spend a few hundred pounds without blinking an eye. And whilst you might be tempted to go an incentive contract through a mobile service provider that gives you a free phone, you should really hold off there and do the math. Compare the monthly price of the incentive contract, with the monthly price of the calling plan only contract. See that huge difference? That's how the mobile provider can afford to give you a new mobile. You are actually paying for it yourself through the increased contract fee.

Not only that, but if you do a little more math, you'll find out that  the additional cost over the course of your twenty four month contract will actually total more than the retail price of the phone that you get.  Definitely not the best long-term saving strategy in the world.

If you're looking for a good deal, then look no further. Today we're talking about the best phones on the market for the best prices. So before you go out phone shopping, read this and find out how you can save money and still get the phone that you want...

A Samsung Galaxy S III...

One of the best deals that you can get right now is on a Samsung Galaxy S III. With the eagerly anticipated Galaxy S 4 being released, the S III is now officially the older model. But that doesn't mean that you lose out on features. Sure, the S 4 has a slightly faster processor and a bigger screen, but these aren't really differences that an average user is going to notice. What an S III does have is still a super-fast processor, a decently sized screen, great software, a cool camera, and it even comes with 4G if you buy the LTE model. And since the new S 4 has been released, prices on the S III have dropped, plus it's available on special offer and discounts with a lot of providers who are trying to make more shelf room for the S 4. It's a great phone, and if you can get a good price, then you should definitely go with the Samsung Galaxy S III.

An iPhone 4S...

Look, it's the same old story. The iPhone 5 is cool. Its processor is a little faster, its screen is a little bigger, but these are really the only differences between the iPhone 5 and the iPhone 4S. The camera is exactly the same, the operating system version is exactly the same. There are literally no real features that you can get on the iPhone 5 that you can't on the iPhone 4S.

The one exception is 4G. If you need the faster internet speeds of 4G, then you're really going to have to go with the iPhone 5. The iPhone 4S does run HSPA+ speed internet which is faster than regular 3G, but in reality, you might as well go for the iPhone 4S and save yourself more than a hundred pounds...

A Refurbished iPhone 4...

Again with the iPhones, but they're such popular devices that it is kind of hard to avoid them. And one of the best deals we've seen when we weigh up price versus features is a refurbished iPhone 4. The phone is refurbished, meaning that it's been bought and returned, usually because the customer has changed his or her mind. But Apple don't simply sell the phone on. No, they clean it, reboot it, thoroughly inspect it and then certify it for resale. You'll still get a warranty too. A refurbished iPhone 4 should be indistinguishable from a new model phone. But it's just so much cheaper. You get an excellent, mid-range smart phone that's packed with features for a rock bottom price, and you can't really say fairer than that.

The HTC One SV...

HTC have just released a phone that they're calling the HTC One. This isn't to be confused with all the other HTC One phones that have been released, like the One S or the One SV. The HTC One is a big seller at the moment, because it's packed with features and is a great high end mobile. However, it's retailing for over five hundred pounds, which is a hefty sum. So, you might want to consider the HTC One SV instead. It's a fraction of the price of the HTC One, has many of the same features, is 4G capable and is basically a great little mid-range phone. The screen quality and processing power suffer a little when compared to the HTC One, but it's still a great phone and comes at a great price...

The Sony Xperia T...

With all the hype surrounding the release of the Sony Xperia Z it's easy to overlook the Xperia T model, even though it hasn't been on the market that long itself. But whilst the Xperia Z is going for close to six hundred pounds with some retailers, the Xperia T is going for close to half that price. And the Xperia T is a great phone, it's got huge processing power, super high resolution TFT LCD screen and a great camera to boot. Plus, in looks it's pretty hard to tell the difference between an Xperia T and an Xperia Z. This is one phone that it's really worth looking out for. Even at full retail price it's an absolute steal.

If you're looking to buy a mobile at discount prices, by far the best thing that you can do is go for last year's top end model. Just because a new model has been released doesn't mean that the older model should be abandoned. In fact, when a new model is released is the perfect time to go for the older version, since prices will inevitably drop. You still get high end features on a great phone, but you get them for a reduced price compared to a new release.
