Looking for the best distortion pedals under 100 dollars? There are tons of great pedals out there for making distortion with your guitar but some of them are better than others. Here's some of the better pedals under 100 dollars you can buy for creating distortion from mild to full-on heavy metal sounds. You don't need to spend a lot for a great distortion pedal.
Deciding Which Distortion Pedal To Buy
It can be difficult to decide which pedal to buy when it comes to distortion. Here are some tips to find the best one for your needs under 100 dollars. First of all you need to decide what type of music you are going to play. There are distortion pedals design speciffically for rock, heavy metal, and other styles. Pedals for heavy metal have thicker and heavier sounding distortion which doesn't work for basic rock and roll sounds. A basic distortion pedal or even an overdrive is oftne enough for modern rock sounds. As with any pedal you really have to experiment quite a bit to gte a really good sound with your pedal. It's often a combination of your guitar, amplifier, and the distortion pedal that makes your sound. You'll probably have tons of pedals that you use for different sounds in your collection over time.
Boss is one of the leaders when it comes to stomp boxes for your guitar. They have been making pedals for years and thay have some amazing guitar pedals. One of my favorites is the simple Boss DS1 Distortion Guitar Pedal. This was the first distortion pedal I bought and it sounds great. It's a perfect pedal to buy if you don't have a great sounding amplifer and want to beef it up some. You can get the Boss DS1 for under $50.00 at many locations and online. This makes for the perfect starter pedal if you're new to playing the guitar.
Ibanez Tube Screamer
This pedal make not look that attractive but this little green thing is complete beauty. For most types of rock, and even hard rock you just can't go wrong with an Ibanez Tube Screamer. The original Ibanez has just three knobs but it sounds so good you'll want to use it all the time. This is one of my all time favorite guitar pedals. It's really more of an overdrive pedal but you won't want to use any other distortion box once you try the tube screamer. It can recreate all the old classic sounds. Metal heads might not like it but for rock and blues it just can't be beat.
Pro Co RAT2 Distortion Pedal
The Pro Co Rat2 is an amazing distortion pedal. This pedal has been used on tons of recordings over the last few decades. The Rat2 is great for rock rhythm as well as lead guitar playing. The Rat2 is built like a tank in a steel chassis so it will take literally tons of abuse and keep on ticking. If you buy one distortion pedal it has to be the rat2 as it will cover a ton of different styles flawlessly.
