Facial Cleansers that Actually Work.

I have struggled with acne-combination skin since I was 11. I am now 25. Though my acne has lessened over time, I have tried seemingly everything on the market from prescription to over the counter. I have tried antibiotics, Duac and Differen topical gels, three rounds of Accutane, Proactiv, Biore products, Neutrogena products...the list goes on. It seemed like skin regimes that worked for others just ended up a colossal waste of money for me.

After learning about the horrible side effects of Accutane (i.e. deafness, birth defects, triglyceride levels...) I continued my search for over the counter products. The first tool everyone should own is the Clarisonic Mia cleansing brush.

This brush only take a few seconds when washing your face and makes a HUGE difference. There are even customizable replacement brushes for sensitive skin, acne prone skin, normal skin, or pore-reducing, which is what I prefer. The brushes last several months and are reasonably cheap to replace.

The next item I recommend for exfoliation (if you still need it after the Clarisonic) is Mario Badescu's Glycolic Foaming Cleanser. This bottle is cheap and lasts forever considering it only requires a small amount and it recommended only a couple times a week.

The next cleanser is by far my favorite discovery of all cleansing products. Although a well known brand throughout Europe, France's La Roche-Posay makes an amazing product line. So far the best cleanser I have ever used in the Toleriane Purifying Foam Cleanser. Just a tiny bit foams up to cover your entire face, makes a slight filminess, and then washes away leaving your face, literally, squeaky clean. This item alone has made more of an impact on my skin that any prescription product.

Another reason I love La Roche-Posay products have some of the best UV protection in their moisturizers. The Antihelios line provides great moisture and the best UV technology out there- recommended by dermatologists. Did I mention almost all their products are widely recommended by dermatologists worldwide?

Further, their anti-aging line of products has been widely lauded, especially the Active C Anti-Wrinkle Dermatological Treatment. Topical vitamin C has been approved my many doctors and is documented on WebMD as a promising treatment for wrinkles. Another night cream I suggest is Mario Badescu's Seaweed night cream. Goes on velvety and does not cause breakouts.

In terms of a toner/astringent, you can't go wrong with the scientific backing of topical Vitamin C. Murad Essential C is my choice since it has a spray bottle which alleviates the need of having messy cotton balls around the bathroom.

I have spent many hours researching and trying different facial cleanser that do actually what they claim. Notice that all these products have nearly 5 star ratings on Amazon, if you doubt my opinion. I hope this regimen works for you as much as it has for me!
