Hair Scrunching Tips

The best hair scrunching mousse isn't worth much if you don't know how to scrunch. There are tips and tricks that you can use to get better and longer lasting curl. This way the hair style can stay looking good from morning to night without touching it up. In fact, once it is styled you shouldn't have to do anything if you do it right in the first place. This holds true whether the curl is natural or permed, as long as you have technique down pat and use the best hair scrunching mousse for your hair. Note I said best hair scrunching mousse for YOUR hair not your friend's hair, your sister's hair or anyone. The first task at hand is to find a mousse that is best for you.

Once you find a hair mousse, actually several brands of mousse, so that you can alternate, then all you need to concern yourself with is technique. Hair mousse contains conditioners, so the first tip is to not use conditioner unless hair is extremely damaged, since there is conditioner in the mousse, additional conditioner can make hair overly conditioned and limp. Second tip is to squeeze hair when towel drying don't scrub this creates frizz and can damage hair.

Third hair scrunching tip is to get as much water out of hair as possible before applying mousse. When there is too much water left in the hair it can dilute mousse and make it ineffective. Common sense will tell you that when water and mousse mix the mousse is diluted. For this to work in your favor you need to know how much water to leave in the hair. If you want mousse to be stronger get as much water out as possible and vice versa to make it weaker.

Fourth, tip for hair scrunching is to comb the mousse through thoroughly with a comb and not a big tooth comb, but a fine one, to ensure uniform coverage. Once you comb it through then you pick it to get the most curl separation possible. Big hunks of curl take forever to dry for one thing, plus those with fine hair need more curl separation to make hair appear thicker. Also, when curls have better separation you get a longer lasting curl, which makes for a longer lasting hairstyle.

Fifth tip is to move quickly from one side of the head to the other while scrunching. This way both sides will turn out identical instead of one side with beautiful curl and the other not so much. The sixth hair scrunching tip is to dry hair upside down for more volume and use a diffuser to control frizz. You may not need to dry upside down or use a dryer with thick hair. The use of a bonnet dryer can speed up the drying process however and avoid additional volume.

Seventh and final hair scrunching tip is to not shampoo the hair any more than needed. When hair gets bed head after sleeping simply add water by way of fingertips to areas that look frizzy or where curl has lost its pizzazz and scrunch. You may need to add a tad more mousse mixed with the water as well and use a diffuser for faster drying and styling. This tip will extend the life of a perm and help conserve hair products, which will save money in the long run.
