Tell me you haven’t thought about brewing your own beer at home?  I know I have, and that’s why I had to write this article.  There are a ton of kits out there that claim to be the best home brewing starter kit out there.  But unfortunately, a lot of them fall short, or are far too complicated for the novice brewer.  Beer making is an art, and like any other artistic endeavor, it takes practice, repetition and a skilled eye.  As you spend more time with your creations you will learn what works, what you like and what you don’t.  But as we said, this is a learning process so don’t get discouraged if you don’t fall in love with your first batch of suds!  Ok so now on to the fun stuff, which is the best home brewing starter kit?

The Kit We Recommend:  Mr. Beer Premium Gold Edition Home Brew Kit.  Now I would not recommend and product that I haven’t personally spent some time with and experienced.  Luckily, my fantastic wife surprised me with this beautiful machine  for my birthday and I couldn’t be happier.  So why do I like this option for the novice beer man (or woman)?

Great Value:  In order to qualify as the best home brewing starter kit, we decided it would have to be affordable.  If somebody just wants to dip their to in the water (or beer) they should not have to shell out hundreds of dollars to do so.  This kit retails for under $50.00 on Amazon ($42.95 at the time of this article).  This certainly isn’t a free lesson in home brewing, but it’s not going to break the bank either.

Easy To Use:  Since we were looking for a great STARTER kit, we figured it would make sense to find one that wouldn’t require the user to do too much thinking.  If you’re like me, this is a good thing.  I’m the kind of guy who ALWAYS has extra parts laying around after putting something together, so trust me when I say, this thing is easy to use. And assemble.

Brews Great Beer:  I’ll be honest, the first time I saw this thing I was not expecting much.  It seems small and simple, so I expected a similarly simple result.  The kit comes with two different types of beer, an Ale and a Lager.  I tried the ale first since I’m more of a lager guy anyway.  This way if I made a horrible mistake I would be battle tested for my Lager batch.  But would you believe that my first batch came out great!  The hardest part was waiting for the beer to take form.  You will have to wait atleast 6 weeks if you want to brew a quality product.

The Perfect Size: A beginner in the home brewing world doesn’t want the liability of running 10 gallons of beer.  This is a lot of pressure.  So, another reason why we felt this was the best home brewing starter kit was the fact that it produces only 20 to 24 bottles per batch.  But honestly, if you follow the directions your beer will come out beautifully.  Nothing to worry about here.

Lots of Options:  The Mr. Beer company has been at this for a while, so they know what people like.  And what do people like?  Variety.  That’s right, we all want to be able to pop out a new beer selection every time we make a batch.  It’s fun that way, you get try new creations and learn what suits your taste.  The kit refills range anywhere from $13 to $20 in price, but produce 2 gallons of beer.  If you do the math here, your price per beer is very low, especially given the super high quality that comes out of this machine.  I would recommend it to anybody looking for the best home brewing starter kit.  It really is wonderful.  Nothing makes you feel like a man more than drinking a beer made by your own hands.  There’s something really incredible about it.  But, of course,  it’s something you will have to learn for yourself.

Bragging Rights:  In case you can’t tell, we really love the Mr. Beer’s Premium Gold Edition Home Brew Kit.  This thing is awesome.  But why did we decide that this was the best home brewing starter kit available?  Sure, we know it’s relatively cheap, it’s produces a good amount of beer and it makes great tasting spirits.  But really, the main reason we love this thing is so that we can brag to our buddies about how the beer their sipping on was made by our own hands.  Watch how quickly your friends end up buying this or something similar so they can say the same thing.  It happened to me and will happen to you
