Great And Easy to Make Marinara Sauce

If you are looking for a delicious and easy recipe for marinara sauce, this is for you.  Growing up in an Italian household allowed me the opportunity to learn to prepare authentic Italian recipes that originated from my relatives in Sicily.  One of my favorite marinara sauces is the one below.  This sauce works well with any type of pasta and pairs well with a hearty merlot.

Your dinner guests will be impressed and will think you slaved in the kitchen all day just for them!   Serve with a Caprese salad and French bread and you have a delicious meal in minutes.

Easy Marinara Sauce

Ingredients you will need:

1 pound of lean ground Hamburger
1 pound of Italian Sausage (mild or hot dependent on your taste), slice in casing

1 clove of Garlic, minced
1-2 tablespoons of Salt
2 tablespoons of fresh or prepared Parsley
2 tablespoons of fresh or prepared Basil
1 teaspoon of Italian Seasoning
1 teaspoon of Oregano
1 teaspoon of Accent Flavoring (can eliminate if you don't have it in your cupboard)

2 - 16 ounce cans of diced Tomatoes ; can also use the Italian Style canned tomatoes
2 - cans sliced Mushrooms
1 - Green Pepper, chopped

Optional:  1 cup of red wine

In a soup pot or large kettle,  over medium heat, brown hamburger, sliced Italian sausage, pepperoni slices, chopped green pepper, and minced garlic until meat is browned and green pepper and garlic are softened.

Add salt, parsley, basil, Italian seasoning, oregano, accent and pepper. Stir the mixture. Add tomato purée, diced tomatoes (drain some of the juice out), canned mushrooms (drained).

For extra flavor, add 1 cup of your favorite red wine.  Simmer on low to medium heat for 30-35 minutes. Serve over your favorite cooked pasta -- Angel Hair, Fettuccine or Spaghetti pasta works well.
