By Edited Dec 28, 2013 0 3

What makes a good film? This truly seems to be a subjective question. A movie that I like is possible to be of low-class quality for you and vice versa. According to Professor Simonton, a psychologist expert about human creativity said that, “Exceptional creativity is frequently viewed as a highly individualistic phenomenon, but there is at least one type of artistic

expression that is extremely prominent, often highly profitable and inherently collective in nature, the feature film. Motion pictures provide a valuable research site for investigating group artistic creativity under real-world conditions”.

Some would say that a good movie needs to show passion, surprise and effortless comedy – it needs to make a hit, an impact. That is why there is never an assurance that a box-office movie is a quality made film, however it is able to touch the peak of the human emotions. Less than that, it’s just purely nothing but a piece of predictable series of events made in a better setting.

Let’s check if you are a movie addict, how many among these movies have you actually seen.

 The Godfather (1972)

“I’ll make an offer he can’t refuse” this was a famous line from this movie, pronounced by Vito Corleone’s character. This movie bagged several awards from Oscars, it is indisputable with the superb performances of each cast, unforgettable lines and riveting plot.

Schindler’s List (1993)

This movie portrays a poignant symbol that by heart, human is good and defies evil. Despite the possibility of greed, selfishness, self-interest and ability to perform murder, our innate goodness works for us and helps us not just save ourselves, but also save others. One of its popular lines was spoken by Itzhak Stern, It’s Hebrew and it’s from the Talmud. He said that whoever saves one life saves the world entirely.

The Dark Knight (2007)

Who can forget the hospital scene in this movie where Harvey Dent was badly burned which led him to become Two-face. It is said that up-to-date this is so far the best Batman movie. In this movie, Christian Bale (Batman) joins Harvey and Gordon stop an organized crime. Despite the series of success, they eventually had to face their most difficult enemy – the wise joker.

The King’s Speech (2010)

This movie focuses on the next-in-line heir, about to be the King, George VI. He had speech problem which needs the help of a speech therapist. Despite the issue, the movie portrays positivism that it is lighter than that of sympathy and burden.

There is a mystery that has to be unmasked in order to discover the true reasons behind. Scottie Feguson works to watch a disturbed psycho Medeleine Elster. He falls for her, but it was not until he met Judy, dead ringer, that truths slowly started to show up.

Other Movies include:

  • The Matrix
  • Braveheart
  • Forrest Gump
  • The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring
  • Alien

These are just among the many classic movies of all time. If some of the movies seem to be unfamiliar, it is best to check them out and you’ll agree that they are impressively written, taped and tell a story that you will surely remember.

Dark Knight and King's Speech...never been inclined to watch The Godfather for some reason, just doesn't appeal. Seen all the other ones mentioned too. One of my favourites is The Fifth Element - a film that has all the right, er, elements.

I don't remember that plot line in Vertigo. I am thinking of Hitchcock's Vertigo which starred James Stewart in a totally different plot.
