Best Nickelback Songs

By Edited Nov 13, 2013 0 4

Wondering what the best Nickelback songs are? Love them or hate them, Nickelback writes and performs some of the best hard rock songs ever. From softer, more introspective hits to downright dirty and gritty rock anthems, there's a Nickelback song for everyone. So take your pick - and comment about which one is your favorite.

1. Photograph

More or less a ballad about the hard road to the American dream, we get a more detailed look at Nickelback's previous life... the one before they became rich and famous. From making trouble at school to ransacking a video game arcade, who'd have known they'd grow up to be one of the most successful Canadian rock bands ever? Definitely one of the best Nickelback songs.

2. How You Remind Me

Perhaps Nickelback's first hit, "How You Remind Me" features a Three Days Grace style hook with a crunchy chorus. But don't get too wrapped up in it - or you'll end up feeling the song coming through your own heart. Yeah. You can relate to it that much. Which also helps make it one of the best Nickelback songs.

3. Rock Star

Dripping with sarcastic humor, "Rock Star" outlines Hollywood life in general... and leaves you wondering if perhaps Nickelback enjoys doing what they bash just as much as bashing the activities themselves. But somehow I don't picture them as the "stay skinny cuz we just won't eat type," do you?

4. Next Contestant

If only every girl could have a boyfriend willing to stand up and crush a guy's bones when he hassles you. If you've ever wanted to beat a guy up on account of a damsel in distress, this is the song for you.

5. Savin' Me

One of the more sad hits on the "All the Right Reasons" album, this ballad finally got some radio play when they were finished playing "Photograph" to death. It's nonetheless one of my favorite Nickelback songs, even if you can't believe they'd "leave this life behind" if you did save them.

6. Detangler

A little-known song from the even lesser-known album, "Curb," "Detangler" features angsty lyrics put to 100% grunge guitar riffs. If you've ever been jilted by a woman who just didn't appreciate you, you'll definitely relate to this hit.

7. Fly

Also one of "Curb's" best hits, "Fly" rehashes a familiar theme - a little bit of drug angst, fraternal regret and disenchantment with life in general - and spins it to music that's more serious than pitiful. Definitely one of their most underrated songs.

8. Burn It to the Ground

I don't recommend emulating the lyrics, but it sure is fun to listen to. Nickelback's "Burn It to the Ground" from their "Dark Horse" album is a great song to exercise or run to, as it really gets your blood pumping. It almost leads you to imagining some rather fun destruction...

9. Too Bad

If this is based on Nickelback's true life story, then they had a pretty rough upbringing. Not that it will make you feel better if you can relate to it, but the anthem of a chorus makes you want to sing along even if you're the richest person in the world.

10. Someday

Another underplayed and underrated hit, "Someday" takes a stand as one of my favorite breakup songs ever. Though it's a reminder not to put off what you could do today to another day... or it could to nasty heartbreak, big mistakes and... a great song.
