Best November Travel Destinations

The hurricane season has usually ended by this time thus making an islands one of the perfect places to travel during the winter months. Of course, during the winter months vacations are much less busy which means phenomenal travel rates for the consumer and in many cases, much more favorable weather than home. You can also get an early start on your Christmas shopping because of all the money you’ll be saving by taking a trip during the off-season.

Some of my recommended Great Places to Travel in November include:

Sicily is a popular Italian travel destination with a volcano, beaches, mountains, and centuries of history and tradition. Some of the more popular landmarks include Mount Etna, Roman amphitheaters, Greek temples, Norman castles and Aragonese churches.

November is a low season in Italy and visitors can travel & walk without the heat of the summer so this is a good time to visit its cities and enjoy cultural, culinary and historical pursuits. Highlights of the Fall are All Saints Day, music festivals and food festivals including truffles, chestnuts, mushrooms, grapes (for wine), chocolate and even torrone. Opera and theater season also starts in many places in Italy during the fall too.

Cities often clear out and restaurants and shops close during August when most Italians take their vacations. In fall, restaurants and shops in cities are open. Although there are less sunlight hours, earlier sunsets mean more time to take in the cities after dark. Many towns light their historic memorials at night so walking through a city after dark can be stunning and passionate. While you'll find lesser crowds and bargain hotel prices in most places, Florence and Rome are highly popular in the Fall.

Hong Kong

Hong Kong is one of the world’s leading financial, banking and trading centers situated on the southeast coast of China. In Hong Kong, you can find the enjoyment of contemporary living alongside plenty of reminders of its historic past.

During autumn in Hong Kong, which runs from late September to early December, clear and sunny days are the norm, Short sleeves and light jackets are great during this time of year.

Some of the top attractions in Hong Kong include: Victoria Peak located in the Western half of Hong Kong Island; Ocean Park which is at marine mammal park, oceanarium, and animal theme park; Tsim Sha Tsui Waterfront which is a major shopping and tourist area with an “Avenue of the Stars” modeled after the Hollywood Walk of Fame, a Bruce Lee statue and imprints of other Chinese movie stars; Hong Kong Disneyland which is composed of the Disneyland theme park, hotels and retail, dining & entertainment facilities.

Events in November include: The Wine and Dine festival, a spectacular gathering of wine, food, and live entertainment; Great Outdoors Hong Kong which consists of a wide array of outdoor events for nature lover’s to get out and enjoy the “Great Outdoors Hong Kong!” Hong Kong Winter Fest during which time the city radiates with celebratory lighting and splendid Victoria Harbour is a stunning site with all of the surrounding illuminations. The holiday season offers a great chance for a bargain during the winter shopping sales while the cities restaurants are filled with seasonal dishes.

Southern California, US

The Southern California region is known for its near-perfect weather, year-round and the cities of Los Angeles and San Diego are no exception. Many Californians think the best time to travel the state is autumn. From late September to early December, crowds drop off, shoulder-season rates kick in, and winter rains have yet to start looming. With average daily temperatures in November in the high 60s Fahrenheit and little chance of rain, visitors can enjoy all of Southern California’s many tourist attractions from Disneyland, Knott’s Berry Farm, Legoland and Sea World to the beaches of Santa Monica, La Jolla and Mission Beach. The beaches are a exceptional delight in the late fall – after Labor Day they are virtually deserted, even though the weather’s still mild.

Sydney, Australia

November is perfect weather in Sydney, Australia, with highs in the middle 70s and lows in the low 60s.The period from September 1 – November 30 is known as the Australian spring and outside of the holiday periods during this time, accommodations should be readily available and reasonably priced. Sydney is Australia’s most populated city and offers a wide variety of travel activities such as the iconic Sydney Opera House, Bondi Beach, Sydney Aquarium & Sydney Wildlife Park and the Royal Botanical Gardens. Tourists may also enjoy harbor and whale-watching cruises, visiting Taronga Zoo, taking a day bus trip to the magical Blue Mountains, climbing the Sydney Harbour Bridge, exploring historic North Head and visiting the shops and restaurants of The Rocks, Sydney’s historic district

Brazil, South America

In Brazil, March thru November are the best months to visit Brazil due to a drier climate. Brazil is a big country and though the average temperature for the entire country is 68F (20C) it does have five distinct climatic regions, The weather within each of these regions is also affected by winds, altitude and polar fronts. Because both the equator and the Tropic of Cancer pass thru Brazil, the country is considered to be in the “inter-tropical zone” creating higher and wetter climates during most of the year.

Cities such as Sao Paolo, Brasilia and Belo Horizon which are all elevated usually have a very very mild climate averaging 66F. Coastal cities such as Rio de Janeiro, Salvador and Recife are much warmer but offset by the sea breezes from the trade winds. Further to the south a sub-tropical climate prevails resembling many parts of the and Europe where winter temperatures can fall below the freezing level.

Attractions include the Amazon Rainforest which ranks as the earth’s most ecologically diverse rainforest sprawling across the heart of South America with the largest sections of the Amazon belonging to Brazil & Peru. During the dry season in November, hiking and fishing are your best bets for activities in the Rainforest. Traveler favorites also include helicopter and/or walking tours of Rio de Janeiro, Christ the Redeemer Statue located at the peak of the Corcovado Mountain, Iguassu Falls, Sugarloaf Mountain, Copacabana Beach, Iguazu Falls, Marcana Stadium (Soccer Games), Ipanema Beach (remember the song?) and much more!
