The 7 ft Reno II Billiard/Pool Table By Fat Cat

As you can see from the image below, the Reno II is covered with a burgundy cloth on a 1 inch mdf 'accuslate playing surface'. The placed surrounded bumpers are k66 rubber bumpers to ensure a signficant contact & bounce to every placed shot. Back to its suave design, the six inch wooden railing are integrated with 'diamond inlays' and its four legs are crafted from 'wood vener marple'.

The Dynasty Space Saver 78 inch (6.5 ft) Billiard/Pool Table By Mizerak

The smallest of the selection is the Dynasty (primarily intended for those who are tight on space) which measures at 6.5' long and is made with a double MDF playing surface covered with a traditional nylon green cloth to provide an effective roll and resisting effect. In terms of design it is manufactured with highly durable a bamboo laminate finish, based on 5.5 inch wide oak grain with rubber cushioning to offer significant and consistent 'resistance' & 'rebound' effects on the balls. It also has an integrated automatic ball return with an easy access point.

Details: as this table is somewhat smaller (and cheaper) than others -- measuring 78 x 44 x 32 inches, you could get away with a room as small as 11 by 14 ft when using 52 inch cues. Moreover, it weighs in at just over 275 lbs.

Accessories: you are provided with two cues, a set of billiard balls, a triangle ball arranger and two pieces of chalk.

Rating: 4.5 out of 5 (90%).

The 7ft Billiard Tables (w/ Accessories) MFT655 By Minnesota

This model has to be my personal favorite of the pool tables on offer. Although it is intended for home use, it is obvious that it emits a professional feel through its simplistic and contemporary styling. It is fitted with a Dur-a-bond playing surface although isn't slate, it offers a very decent (and more affordable) performance -- being  covered by a slick 'midnight' blue wool cloth. It features a pedestal type leg & levelers, covered pockets all with a cherry finish. In all, a very good looking table that achieves a "designer look".

Rating: 4.5 out of 5 (90%).

The Donovon II 8 Ft Slatron/Slate Billiard/Pool Table By Mizerak

This pool table would be what I rate as being more for the 'better' pool players -- an up and coming pool shark -- who is after a larger table to make their game a bit more difficult and offers a professional like feel with the resistance of the ball when playing on the 'genuine' slate (there is also a cheaper version of the table that uses slatron). A traditional pool table with 3-5/8 inch black laminate top rails coupled with a 'deep' red cloth boarded by k66 rubber, makes this Donovon II the 'real deal'. A quality pool table.

Details: it measures 4 x 8 ft ( 98 inches length and 54 inches width) and so in terms of game playing space with 58 inch cues you will need 13' 6" x 17' 6" (and a ft less each way if you just used 52 inch cues).

Accessories: the accessory kit -- 2 cues, 'full' set of balls, a triangle ball arranger and a piece of chalk.

Rating: 3.7 out of 5 (78%).

The 7 ft Frisco II Billiard/Pool Table By Fat Cat

A very popular model is... this frisco II, which as you can see is a fairly traditional 'looking' pool table and it incorporates a very similar design to the Reno II with a 1 inch accuslate play surface covered on a brown cloth -- with fitted k66 rubber bumpers. Again, it also is integrated with six inch rails with diamond inlay.

Details: again the brown cloth is backed on a 7 year warranty and dimensions measure by 89.5 inches x 50.5 inches x 31 inches, hence you will be wanting a 13 by 16 ft playing area.

Accessories: with table you also get 2 x 57 inch cues, a set of pool balls, two chalk pieces, a triangle rack and a specialised cleaning brush.

Rating: 4.2 out of 5 (84%)

Final Thoughts:

  • think about the size of the pool table you are getting -- traditionally 7 ft models are for bars and homes, 8 ft models you will find in clubs and 9 ft tables is what you see the pros play on (where the larger it is, the harder it is).
  • also consider the playing surface -- slate is what many prefer offering a more responsive (less resistance) feel with the pool balls, it is however more expensive. For home use, accuslate is more than up to the job, being more affordable too.

Moreover, if you have any questions, comments or concerns regarding either the overview of the best pool tables under $1000 or about any of the tables (e.g. what are the room measurements that you need for the Donovon, and pool accessory kit to go with a certain table) mentioned above then please do not hesitate to make them in the comments section that you will find just below -- and we will be sure to get back to you as soon as possible.
