Need a Decent Inexpensive Riding Lawn Tractor Mower this Year?

When you have a large garden, it is obviously difficult to keep it manicured and the grass trimmed, in the heat of summer, without using a motorized lawn mower. The great thing is that most entry-level riding mowers are affordable. Major brands like Snapper, MTD, Husqvarna, Poulan and Craftsman offer zero-turn lawn mowers and garden tractors. The price is not the only thing you need to consider.

You also should take into consideration the amount of power that your riding mower will generate. The more power you get from your lawnmower, the better it will perform and the quicker it will be able get the job done.

Another important thing to bear in mind is the mowing deck. It is often a good idea to have a large mowing deck that will cover sufficient ground. Most manufacturers of motorized mowers often have a different price plan dependent on the engine size and the width of the mowing deck.

Many of these can be bought locally at your local hardware or DIY Home and garden store, but even more convenient and easy is to compare prices and models on Amazon.

Poulan/Weed Eater PB16542LT

This is an entry-level riding mower that comes with a 42 inches mowing deck and 16.5 horsepower. It comes in a rather unusual black color but that is not a problem. It is fitted with a Brigg and Stratton engine and has 6 speeds.

Some retailers sell this for a little over $1000 but if you shop around and go to Ace Hardware Superstore, you can get one for $815. This little garden tractor is quite easy to maneuver. It doesn't come with the flexibility of a zero turn mower, however, is affordable and will give good performance on a level surface.

This is another affordable riding mower that comes with a rather small 26 inches mowing deck. It is a gas powered lawnmower with 190cc Briggs & Stratton engine. It comes with an electric starter which is rather convenient.

It does look like a mobility vehicle but what will appeal to many is that it can be used conveniently when mowing tight corners. It comes with an adjustable lever that will allow you to lower or raise the cutting height. You can go as low as 1.5 inches or up to 4 inches high. It is an entry-level riding mower that will be great for those who have medium to small garden. It is available for purchase for $850.

Craftsman 17.5HP Shift-on-the-Go

Craftsman is another good brand for those looking for affordable entry-level riding mowers. This one comes with a 17.5 HP and 502cc gas powered engine. It comes with a very neat feature that's will appeal to those who do not want to spend their time collecting after mowing the lawn. It comes with the mulching feature which is also good for recycling and feeding your lawn without adding chemicals to it.

The fuel tank capacity is 1.5 gallons which is rather small but for a model of this size, it is not a problem. Some people have said that if you have less than an acre of land to mow, you don't need a tractor. That said, having a compact garden tractor can be fun. The 42 inches mowing deck that comes with this mower is a plus in its favor.
