Best Sony Readers - The Sony Touch Edition Digital Reader

With Sony being such a well known brand for producing economical, innovative and good quality personal electronics for the last 50 years it is hardly surprising to see them increasing their market share of the Ebook Reading Device market.
Sony have released several different digital readers over the last few years, but if you are considering buying one, make sure you choose the Best Sony Reader for your needs. I have researched and compared customer reviews to come up with my Top 3 Sony Readers available today. Number 2 on my list is the Sony Touch Edition or PRS600.
The Sony Touch Edition Digital Reader was the first really popular touchscreen model of ereader. Following on from the extreme popularity of the iPhone it seems every electronics company is striving to incorporate simple to use touchscreens and Sony are no different.
The customer reviews of the Sony Touch are overwhelmingly positive about the ease of use of this touchscreen. Everyone seems to love being able to turn the page by a flick of the thumb. But at around $100 more than the Sony Pocket Edition Reader is it worth the money just to enjoy a flashy touchscreen? Well if that was the only difference I would have to say no, this is a gadget for gadget lovers only.
But in fact the reader does offer more. For a start the 6" E Ink®Vizplex™ screen is larger, so making viewing images or reports far easier on the eye. In fact this gives the Touch the same size screen type as the Kindle 2. But being touchscreen there are differences and a few customers point out that the clarity on the Kindle (and also on the Sony Pocket) is better particularly indoors.
An inbuilt dictionary and the ability to make notes and highlight either with the stylus or via the virtual keyboard mean the Sony Touch Edition is a much better choice for those studying or researching, than the more simple Sony Pocket Reader.
The memory capacity is the same, storing around 350 titles internally but you can add to that by purchasing reasonably cheap 16GB memory cards.
Again multiple formats are supported and the reader is both MAC and PC compatible meaning the same huge variety of material is available for buyers of a Sony Reader rather than say a Kindle.
