Best Spinning Spin Bike Workouts

Spinning has become a great workout sensation. Since the development of spinning by Johnny G in the 1980s, there has been an increase in the number of these exercise routines in many gyms across America and the world.

Spinning has established itself as a great workout with many serious enthusiasts. In this article we will look at what it takes to have the best spinning bike workouts. Spinning can be done both as a part of a group in a gym as well as in the comfort of your own home. In instances however, where you have chosen to work with a group, look for a class with a certified spinning instructor.

Not all gyms use live instructors. There may be some gyms which use DVDs and pre-programmed lessons. Make sure you wear comfortable, breathable clothes. You will become hot from your exercises and therefore be sure to have enough water (2 bottles minimum) and a towel to wipe away your sweat.

Your footwear should ideally have Velcro straps rather than shoe laces which can be caught in the wheel of the bike. Since you will be sitting in a saddle for a while, it is good to have a padded cycle shorts which can cushion your rear.

Be sure to get to the class early enough to identify a bike and start your warm-up. To ensure that you have the best spinning bike workouts, adjust the bike to fit your physical frame. You may need help from your spinning instructor.

Get on the bike to make sure that you are comfortable. To ensure that your seat is at the right height, lift a leg to a 90degree angle as if you were getting onto the bike. The seat should be level with your hips. If it isn’t make the adjustment.

Seats which are too low can tire legs too easily and seats which are too high can strain hips and knees. Adjust the handlebars so that they are slightly above the seat.

You should be able to reach the handlebars comfortably without excessive bending which can strain your spine.

Your spinning bike will have a resistance knob located beneath the handlebar. This resistance knob is very important to giving you the best spinning bike workout.

By adjusting the resistance knob you can alter the intensity of your workout and find the pace that is best for you during your workout. Listen carefully to the instructions from your instructor and use the resistance knob as per the instructions or to modify your activities.

Warming up at the beginning of the class and stretching at the end is very important to getting the best spinning workouts. Your warm up should be steady and should last between 5 and 10 minutes taking you to 80 revolutions per minute (RPM).

If you fail to warm up and stretch, you could find yourself feeling very sore as your body adjusts to the sudden stress on the muscles. If you are doing spinning exercises from your home, you may wish to use exercise videos.

To make your workouts interesting, use variations such as interval workouts and hill workouts. Using the resistance knob on your bike and change positions to provide the variations you need to use different groups of muscles and make your workout among the best spinning bike workouts possible.
