Boosting Metabolism

The best workouts to increase metabolism and lose weight include exercises that will help you increase the intensity of your workout. It is the intensity of the workout that increases metabolism. You need to be willing to workout harder even if it's a little at a time. In fact, it is better and much safer to increase the intensity of a work out a little at a time. The reason for this is that when you push the body too hard too fast there is a higher risk of injury. As a result, you just might quit and throw in the towel saying it's not worth it. This  is a mistake that many people make, but you don't have to be one of them. All you need to do is increase the intensity of your workout in moderation.

One of the best workouts to increase metabolism and lose weight is circuit weight training. If you belong to a gym there might be a weight training circuit station in place. If you aren't sure then you need to ask and if you don't know anything about circuit weight training then you can do some research online beforehand to become better informed. The basic idea is to move quickly from one piece of exercise equipment to the next with minimal or no rest between sets. Naturally, this will raise the heart rate, and in time, metabolism as well. It takes time to increase metabolism.  To give you an idea of how long it can take it took me a good 6 months of gradually increasing intensity to get to where I am now.

For those who love strength training or circuit weight training, but don't really care for the big machines or would like another option why not consider free weights. The weight room at the gym can be an intimidating place for beginners and women. The only way you can get over this fear, however, is to do it afraid. That's what I did over 30 years ago and I'm still going, so I promise you won't die. If you can't muster up the guts then buy a set of adjustable dumbbells and do it at home. For the record, it's worth it to overcome the fear and do it anyway, because you can learn a lot from those big loud not so friendly guys who have been pumping iron for years.

You will learn about supersets, tri-sets, giant sets, drop sets and lifting to failure. These are weight training techniques that will help you increase intensity and eventually your metabolism. Building and toning muscle with intensity will also get the weight off and keep it off. We're talking a mean lean fighting the battle of the bulge machine. That is, as long as you're eating right. A proper diet is and always will be a mainstay when it comes to weight loss and fitness.

Another excellent way to boost metabolism and increase intensity in your workout is to include interval training. Interval training can be implemented quite easily in most forms of exercise and sports. This is wonderful if you already have a particular sport you love. For example, if you love to ride a bicycle you can begin interval training as soon as right now. All you need to do is ride hard and fast for 5 minutes, then ride slower for 5 minutes, or if you can only do 2 minutes start with that. In time, you proceed to increase the fast and harder riding time to 10 minutes then 15 and so forth. I am sure you get the idea. You can do this with swimming, running or any other form of exercise or sport you choose. This is one reason why interval training is popular.

The next type of workout that will help boost metabolism for weight loss is the principle of muscle confusion. The most well known workout on the market that uses this principle is P90X. If you don't know much about P90X then you need to do a little research and find out why and how muscle confusion works. P90X is a very tough workout; however, it can be modified for beginners. Don't be intimidated by any workout program, simply modify the exercises and work your up to a higher intensity level safely.

If you are a beginner understand that muscles can get used to the workout you're doing and not resp0nd anymore. In other words, no results! Then, you may get discouraged and possibly quit. Not so fast, don't quit, just put some muscle confusion in the mix. Don't panic, it is doable, but you will have to be willing to get out of a rut and be more flexible in your workout. You can check out muscle confusion exercise routines on Youtube to get an idea of how it works. Once you gain more experience you can create your own muscle confusion routine.

Now, you know four types of the best workouts to increase metabolism and lose weight. There is no reason you can't get started today. Remember, increase intensity a little at a time so as to avoid injury or excessive soreness. Finally, be consistent and patient it may take months.
