Best at Home Tooth Whitening- What to Know Before You Buy a Tooth Whitening System

By | 0 Comments | Rating: 0 | |

If you do not want the cost of in-office tooth whitening to drain you pocketbook, why not opt for the best tooth whitening kits on the market today.

The truth is that you can get very close to the same results at home for a fraction of the cost of in-office tooth whitening procedures with at home tooth whitening products.

Today's modern tooth whitening systems come in three varieties:

1. Paint on whitening gels

2. Tooth whitening strips

3. Trays with bleaching gels

All three will whiten you teeth, but some do a better job than others of even bleaching.

How do you get the best results from an in-home tooth whitening system? You need to pick the best tooth whitening product for the job.

Paint on whitening gels have a difficult job getting even lightening on the surface of the tooth. This is true because the whitener was designed to dry on the surface of the tooth. If applied either unevenly, or if the whitening gel contacts saliva in the mouth decreasing the concentration of the bleach, you will not get even whitening. Definitely not the aesthetically pleasing results you are looking for.

Tooth whitening strips do a better job of both even lightening and ease of use, although they do have one major draw back. The whitening gel does not always get in between teeth as well as it could. The likely result is that the surfaces of your teeth will become lighter, but the spaces in between may stay the same dingy shade you started with. Again, not the result you were hoping for.

In comparison to the first two options, tooth whitening trays with a 21% concentration lightening gel seems to be the best solution for at home tooth whitening. While the trays can be messy and do take a few minutes to prepare fro use, they allow for even distribution of the whitener over all surfaces of your teeth, including the spaces in between.

If you are looking for a way to get lighter, brighter teeth at home for a fraction of the cost of a dentist's visit, be sure to get a kit containing lightening trays with a higher concentration gel. Why higher concentration? You will see faster results with fewer applications. Not all kits are created equal, so keep these factors in mind before buying.

With a little patience and knowledge, it is possible to get close to professional results without the high cost of the professional. I have had excellent results since switching to bleaching trays over whitening strips. The secret to a whiter, brighter smile is in knowing what to look for in an at home tooth whitening system.
