Bradley Charles Cooper was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in the United States on January 5, 1975.
Shortly after birth, he moved with his parents and older sister, Holly, to Jenkintown, Pennsylvania, where he spent the majority of his childhood and adolescence. His mother, Gloria worked for a local NBC affiliate and his father, Charles worked as a stockbroker for Merril Lynch.
Cooper attended Germantown Academy and worked at the Philadelphia Daily News part time. After graduating in 1993, he attended Villanova University for his freshman year. At the end of his freshman year, he transferred to Georgetown University and stayed for the remainder of his college years. In 1997, he graduated with honors with a BA in English. While in attendance at Georgetown, he learned French and spent time abroad as an exchange student in Aix-en-provence, France. In 2000, Cooper received an MFA in acting from the Actors Studio Drama School at The New School in New York City, New York. For his thesis at the Actor's Studio, he played the title character of John Merrick from "The Elephant Man." He claims that seeing the production TV is what had inspired him to become an actor in the first place. He had even traveled to London to research the part. He was rather obsessed about it. While Cooper was attending Actors Studio Drama School, he was in one episode of "Sex and the City." He played "Jake" in the episode "They Shoot Single People, Don't They?"

From 2009 to 2011, Bradley Cooper dated actress Renee Zellweger.

In 2012, he starred in "Silver Linings Playbook" alongside Robert De Niro. His performance earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor.
In 2013, "The Hangover III" was released and did very poorly at the box office. Critics tore apart the movie because of the "darker storyline" which was completely different to the feel of the previous two films.
In the same year, Cooper starred alongside Jennifer Lawrence, Amy Adams, and Christian Bale in "American Hustle." His performance in this movie got him an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor.
