Birthday Party Ideas For Girls

By Edited Oct 1, 2016 1 1

When you are choosing ideas for a girls birthday party you will want to consider how old they are, their interest, who's coming, and how it will all come together. If you do this then you can throw an unforgettable party that is fun and exciting for everyone involved. Plus a little planning will make it easier for you as well.

Babies

When it comes to parties for baby girls you are really talking about parties for parents and other family members. The baby isn't really going to care if you spent hours of time putting together the most amazing party and spent a lot of money doing it or not. So, with that in mind you should try to keep things on the simple side so it isn't so overwhelming for her.

Invitation List

Because a birthday party for your 1-year-old or even your 2-year-old can easily overwhelm them you want to keep the invitation list on the short side. You should choose close family members, close friends, and maybe a few babies that your baby plays with (if she does that). Try and keep it on the smaller side though. It's less likely to be overwhelming and stressful for her.

Themes

Often turning 1 is its own theme. However, it doesn't have to be. You can choose any theme that you like and colors that your daughter likes. Birthday party themes for baby girls can include animals especially baby animals, teddy bears, numbers, letters, and even Baby Einstein.

Invitations

Once you know who you are inviting and what your theme is you can have a lot of fun making invitations. Getting creative with your ideas can really change how presentation works. Use your theme to create the invitations. If it's all about being 1 then use fancy colored 1's to write out your invitations. If you are doing baby giraffe as your theme then use giraffe paper, cut outs, or clip art on your invites. Make sure you include all relevant information including when, where, how to get there (if people will need to know that), and what to bring.

Decorations

Decorations can be really simple. Choose the room where you will have the party at. Add streamers to match the colors in the theme and cut outs or pictures related to the theme to the walls, the tables, and so forth. You don't have to get carried away because a little bit will make it festive enough to be very exciting for the baby.

Activities

Again it is a good idea to keep things simple. If you serve food (snacks or a meal), cake, and presents then you will have done a great job at giving your baby girl a great birthday without being too overwhelming. If you are going to add other ideas then it is a good idea to make it something fun and familiar. Swimming in a kiddie pool, play with other kids who are familiar, and so forth are good options.

Toddlers and Preschoolers

Toddlers and preschoolers are a lot of fun to throw a party for because they are just starting to get it. They get so excited and happy about the whole thing. They are also starting to getting into themes and the details that you put into their party.

Invitation List

The older your child gets the more invitations you can send out without it being too overwhelming. Consider all the family members that they know, their friends, your friends, and so forth. Preschoolers will also enjoy having important people in their lives as part of their party.

Themes

Choose a theme that is related to the things that the birthday girl will love. You can consider a party based on a movie or a TV show that she really likes. Cars, Toy Story, Dora the Explorer, and the Cat in the Hat. You can also choose to do a theme based on a specific princess, all of the Disney princesses, or just on being a princess in general. Another cool theme includes bugs such as ladybugs, butterflies, or bees. Other animals can also make for a cool theme.

Decorations

Get excited about the decorations. Choose items that match. Make cut outs, posters, and such in the theme's characters or images. Add balloons, streamers, and glitter to the mix for a lot of fun. The more fun you have, the more fun your little one will have.

Activities

At the preschool age is the perfect time to start adding activities to the party. There are lots of different choices. You can have a dress up party where you dress like a specific character. You can also do a variety of crafts. Age appropriate games can be fun. Just remember to pick out one main activity and don't add too much to do or young guests will start getting tired and may start getting grumpy and irritable.

Elementary Aged Girls

By time the kids are in elementary parties can be lots and lots of fun. Get them involved in the planning and making the choices. Girls will have a blast picking out colors, decorations, and helping to make invitations. It also makes it easier of a burden on you. If you are wanting to have a surprise, simply save one or two things off the list and then have a way of bringing them out later. This could be surprising her with the cake, bringing out some last-minute decorations, or inviting a few people she doesn't know about.

Invitation List

Be sure to include the birthday girl in the invitation list. Let her pick out people to invite. If she wants some of her classmates you may want to consider inviting everyone so as not to leave anyone out. You may want to throw a party with the kids and one with her family and other adults at a separate time.

Themes

Again you can draw from the movies and TV shows she likes to get theme ideas. You can also draw from the princess them and popular characters such as Barbie. Her favorite books can also give you ideas for a fun and exciting party.

Decorations

You can always choose the common decoration ideas including plates and napkins, streamers, and balloons. However, you should always draw heavily from your theme. This becomes more and more important and can be a lot of fun for the girl who is helping you to make decorations.

Activities

It's at this point that activities can get to be a lot of fun. Your daughter and her friends will not tire as easily and that in turn will allow you to have games, crafts, and food. You should set it up so that you don't spend a whole lot of time on any one thing. Be ready to move from one thing to another to keep everyone entertained. You can also add a movie or show into the mix if you are planning a longer party. This is a great way to give everyone a rest period without making the intent known to anyone.

Outings

As children get older it is easier to take them on outings as well. Going places can be a very fun way to have a birthday party. Some options include a beach or pool party, bowling, or even the zoo. A park can also be a great place with a group of kids who are still young enough to enjoy playing on the playground equipment.

These are just a few birthday party ideas for girls. There are actually a lot more and you can use these lists to get yourself started on figuring out the perfect party for your daughter. Have fun with it, take your time in planning so that you can come up with all of the ideas that you need. Remember that often balloons, streamers, cake, and presents are enough so anything above and beyond that is just icing on the cake.
