Black Venetian Blinds Are The Hot New Look!

By | Jul 15, 2010 | 0 Comments | Rating: 0

The rise, fall and rise again of the popularity of Venetian blinds would not be dissimilar to that of a ride on a rollercoaster. Design ideas are continuously changing as interior designers go for that new look, be it traditional, chic ultra-modern or retro. Black Venetian blinds are very popular at present either as a strand-alone window covering or as a combination window dressing with a curtain.

Back in the 1970's Venetian blinds were the only player in town and were to be found in many homes and offices. What is more they were all the same off-white, dreary colour. The fall in grace of these blinds was spectacular as different types and styles became available to the market. Blinds that were vibrant in their colouring and different to look at flooded onto the market place and this coincided with an era where home improvement became a fashionable hobby for many people. Venetian blinds were swept away and replaced by roller blinds, Roman blinds, vertical blinds and many other blind types.

However, it is hard to keep a fashion icon down for long and Venetian blinds gradually have re-invented themselves, becoming available in different colours and in different slat widths and gradually coming back into the public consciousness. Now today again they are becoming the blind of choice for many homeowners.

Black blinds of any style and type have some advantages over brightly coloured blinds or curtains. Use of a black blind does give a contemporary feel to a room and that along with other carefully selected pieces of furniture can make a very bold statement.

Venetian black blinds can also be used with curtains for contrast and can be combined with strong blocks of painted walls colour. This gives a bold look that can work equally well in a commercial setting or in a conservatory or some other room in a residence.

Whether you are dealing with black Venetian blinds or any types of blinds, ensure that they are correctly hung and that they are easy to operate. There is nothing that looks quite so bad in terms of interior design as crooked blinds or blinds that are tangled up. This is a fashion faux-pas that you need to avoid. If you are not confident that you can hang your newly purchased blinds correctly, it is advisable to get professional help. In fact it could be suggested that you get your windows professionally measured before you purchase blinds, as badly fitting blinds will not function properly in terms of being able to block light from your residence.
