Blackhead Causes

These blackhead prevention tips may not prevent all blackheads, but are sure to reduce them if you actually follow the advice. To prevent blackheads it's a good to know what causes them, while you may be able to do something about most of the causes there is one that you can't do anything about and that is family genetics. That's okay, it's only one, so don't despair there is still hope. Another hard to deal with cause is hormones this is why teens get blackheads and acne more than most. Genetics you can't do anything about, but there are medications that can help with hormones for those with serious acne breakouts. Other causes are poor hygiene, diet and makeup.

Now, let us tackle the ones that you can do something about starting with poor hygiene. The obvious solution here is to make more of an effort to keep the face clean or better yet begin a face care regimen. For example, if you work out and get sweaty then don't leave the gym without first cleansing the face because when you don't sweat and dirt mix together to create blackheads and blemishes. When it comes to facial cleansing also be sure to exfoliate the face on a regular basis, which we will get into more later on, since this is one of the best ways to prevent blackheads.

Remember, the old saying you are what you eat. Well, this couldn't be more true when it comes to blackhead prevention. We all know what this means, too much junk food as well as junk drinks such as soft drinks, alcohol and coffee. The more blackheads and acne you have the more you need to make a change in diet.  When we consume unhealthy foods and drinks more than healthy ones it will show up in our complexion, unless you have really good family genes, which most of us don't. So, if you're really serious about preventing blackheads eat healthy.

Then for the women there is the issue of makeup and makeup removal. Makeup clogs pores and this is a problem,we as women have that men do not. However, there are things we can do to not make it any worse than it is. One is to use water based makeup foundation and the other is to use quality brand makeup when possible. Also, when you wear makeup NEVER go to sleep with it on! Always remove makeup thoroughly before going to sleep and as mentioned above exfoliate the face as often as needed. Do not overdo it, however, as this could make matters worse.

In general, we need to lead a healthy lifestyle if we want our skin to look and feel healthy. Regular exercise is beneficial as well, since it helps to release toxins in the body as we sweat. Drinking more water is another tip that will help keep skin looking its best. Getting enough sleep and living a drama free life, free from stress, are two more factors that will keep us looking and feeling our best. When we allow our lives to get out of balance whether it is physical, mental or emotional it will eventually show up on the face as you may have already experienced.

Blackhead Prevention Treatment

Blackhead treatments can help tremendously, but can't do it all by themselves, so if you're not living a healthy lifestyle then they won't be as effective for you as someone who is.

One of the best ways to prevent blackheads is to exfoliate the face, since exfoliation removes dead skin cells and other impurities that basic washing cannot. Facial exfoliating cleans the face 6X better than basic washing. When you don't exfoliate and build up accumulates the pores get clogged and blackheads and blemishes appear. The two most common ways to exfoliate the face is with facial exfoliation wash or the use of a battery operated facial cleansing brush. Both types of exfoliation are simple and fast just follow directions and that's it.

If you really interested in blackhead prevention then check out these facial exfoliating products at Amazon that have positive reviews and high ratings. One of the best deals online when it comes to facial exfoliating is the Dove SkinVitalizer Cleansing Facial Massager with 6 exfoliating Pillows. It has 23 reviews with a 4 star rating and if you catch it on sale it is only $2, if not is is still under $10.  It is ready to go with everything included even the batteries.

For those who just want a facial exfoliating wash then the Kiss My Face Start UpWash is an excellent product. It has 17 reviews with a 4 star rating and is $11 for 4 oz. This is a very good product and company that does not test on animals and is organic certified. Kiss MyFace carries a full line of hair and skin care products, so while you're there check them out.

Another way to deep cleanse the face is with the use of a facial steamer. A facial steamer opens up the pores and can be very beneficial in the removal of blackheads. The facial steamer used in combination with blackhead extractor tools or deep cleansing pore strips makes blackhead removal easier and faster. The Conair Sauna Systems with Timer on Amazon has 137 reviews with a 4 star rating and for under $30 is an excellent home facial steamer.

It is not advised to use a facial steamer and facial exfoliation the same day as this is too much deep cleansing and can do more damage than good. The best way to do it is to alternate the two since both of them are very beneficial, but in different ways. A facial steamer works more from the inside out while facial exfoliation is from the outside in. As far as how often to use them this is a matter of skin type, oily skin is typically deep cleansed more often and sensitive skin less often.

Lastly, when you follow these blackhead prevention tips and treatments they're sure to reduce blackhead breakouts and maybe even prevent them all together.
