Successful Blogging Tips

We all know that it's a snap to start a new blog. Even maintaining a blog on a regular basis is not too difficult, but it does get difficult when you are concerned about adding compelling content that will please your readers.  Here is a quick guide that will hopefully give you some ideas about how to write blog content that will keep your readers coming back.

Reader Friendly Content: At all costs keep your content – articles, photographs, videos – reader friendly, that is to say, it should keep your readers interested. Your reader must be at the center of you post in a way that your reader must feel that they are gaining something out of reading your post.

Worthwhile: Never let the reader feel that they have been duped into reading your post or clicking on your blog link.  Doing so will thwart all your long term chances of that reader coming back to your blog, in which case your blog rankings over the long term will fail to get successful results.

Check for errors: Making grammatical and spelling errors can be a major put off for many readers. They may not visit your blog again simply because there are too many errors. Always proof read your blog.  A small typo here and there can be understood, but make sure you don’t have major grammatical or spelling errors.

KISS: Or, Keep It Short and Simple. This is a rule of thumb you must follow at all times.  Long winded posts tend to get boring and it may contain nothing that is interesting to the reader. Also, people have limited time for your blog, no matter how well you write. In fact, your blog will be much more appreciated if you articulate your thoughts simply and clearly.

Compelling: Make sure that you hold your reader’s attention by making your posts snazzy and original. They must not be written in a tone that is tiring to read. Write short sentences and keep them crisp and precise. Always get to the point immediately.

Links: Place links to blogs you read on your site in order to build a network of people which will in turn be encouraged to link to you.  Post links to your posts on Twitter and Facebook.  Remember, linking can help you increase your search engine ratings.

Keywords: Use keywords in your posts.  This increases the ability of search engines to find your articles which in turn means more people will find and visit your blog.

Post Title: A catchy post title or headline is very important to attract readers.   Think of the title as a short advertisement.  However, do not use misleading titles, this will ruin your credibility and the reader will likely not return.

I hope that this quick guide on writing blog content has given you some ideas to help you with your blogging success.  The most important tenets are to blog frequently with original, compelling content. Over time, by following these simple rules, you should see your blog become a popular success.
