Bobski's January 2013 Earnings

By Edited Nov 13, 2013 1 0

A Step In The Right Direction

I have been writing online for about 8 months now and I've decided it's time to start reporting how much I'm earning each month and from which sources. I've yet to come up with a business plan but I'm hoping to start implementing one once I've been able to collect enough data over the next 6 months.

I'm planning on writing at least 1 article a week on at least one platform. That way I can have a minimum of 52 articles this year, if not more should I exceed my goals.

January 2013

This month I have been playing around with a new platform called Zujava and I met my goal of 1 article a week. I have also been getting into Web Answers this month and I've started to get a steady little income already.

Here are the totals from each source for my January payouts:

  • Squidoo: $47.84
  • HubPages: $4.35
  • Adsense: £6.35
  • Chitika: $0.06
  • Triond: $0.04
  • Redgage: $0.30
  • Amazon (UK & USA): $0.74 + £1.10
  • Experts Column: $0.10

 Total earnings: $53.43 + £7.45

A Word On Adsense

Looking back over my stats for the month of January I have to say that Adsense has had the most improvement. That's to say the greatest improvement in percentages and not real money as it's still one of my lowest earners.

Adsense Sources

I have a few blogs running Adsense at the moment but I just haven't had time to do anything with them at the moment. However, they are still bringing in a little income, especially the articles that have started to mature and are getting regular streams for traffic. Those are the ones that I am depending on a the moment to keep the steadiness there.

As I mentioned before I have just started to earn a small amount on Web Answers and to my surprise this is where most of my income has come from. I have only been on there for a month and have already earned the same amount of money that took 6 months to earn from my other sources. I'm really looking forward to seeing what Web Answers can do for my Adsense earnings, it's just a case of logging in there daily and answering as many questions as I can.

As for my Adsense earnings with InfoBarrel I'm really not surprised that I only earned pennies because I just haven't been active on here enough. Simple as that. However, from what I understand the payment system is changing on here so I wont have to worry about Adsense earnings. I'm quite excited by that prospect because Google is making things increasingly hard to do so I'm sure that this is a positive move on IBs part and everyone will be able to see the difference in their earning potential.

Amazon UK Vs Amazon USA

Since I live in the UK I thought that I should get an Amazon.co.uk affiliate setting as well so I went ahead and did that back in July 2012. However, I've noticed that I wasn't getting very many click-throughs to the UK site but then I realized that the only products I had set up to get through to there were on an old blog that I haven't had time to tend to. So, what I did was revamp some of my Squidoo lenses to include a few links to the UK Amazon site.

Boy was I glad I did that because I was contemplating getting rid of it and just focusing on the USA site instead. In January alone I was able to significantly increase my earnings from earlier months (you can see above) and now it's only a matter of time before the commissions start rolling in.

My next goal with both sites is to sell enough to get into the higher earning commission rates because at the moment I'm on the bottom rung for both. I'm not sure how long it will take to reach a consistent high level but I'm will to work on it this year as I really want to have this passive income.

All in all I'm quite pleased with the way January has turned out especially after the Christmas slump that others seem to have experienced. I'm really excited to see how much I can turn this around in 2013 so keep an eye out for the upcoming reports as we roll through the year.
