By Edited Nov 13, 2016 0 1

  • Great advice on how to be successful
  • Hill has taken what he has learned from many successful people and "put the pieces together"

  • Some outdated material due to book being written over 50 years ago

Full Review

I had picked up this book because I saw a few reviews on amazon that said although it was written almost 50 years ago, its information was still relevant today. This peaked my interest so I decided to take a chance and have it delivered to my doorstep, and having read it I can say that it was a chance well taken. This book is written by a man who spent more then 25 years studying and interviewing successful wealthy people. While doing all of this research, he started to see commonalities between all of these people. From this information he was able to write this book, which isn't so much about becoming rich as it is about how to be SUCCESSFUL at whatever your goal is. (And in most peoples cases this is linked with becoming rich!)

There obviously is some dated material in the book, but all in all, most of the principles are sound and have aged very well. I am not going to sit here and tell you the secret of Think and Grow Rich!: The Original Version, Restored and Revised

(sometimes it's referred to as TGR), because I believe you have to read it and take away what you can from it. I plan on reading it again in 6-12 months because I feel at that time, I'll be able to take something else away from the book that I missed the first time around. In no place does Mr. Hill come out and say what the secret is, you need to go through and see the examples and take note of the CAPITALIZED words, which are found on almost every page. These words help to sink in the point that he is trying to get across.

I plan on mentioning a few of his concepts in a couple articles that I will write in the future, because they have hit a special note with me and I plan on making them a habit. One of these is that you have to have a BURNING DESIRE for whatever it is you truly want. you have to be unwavering in your faith (by faith, I mean your faith in yourself of being able to achieve this goal) and willing to make sacrifices in order to achieve it. Let nothing else enter your mind long enough to detract you from your goal, and finally you must have the PERSISTENCE to stick with it till the end. These are just a couple of the concepts, but I hope you can see how powerful they can be if properly applied.

In Closing

If you have the time to read this book, I definitely recommend it. If you do read it, or you have in the past, please leave a comment and let me know what your thoughts are, and It might be interesting to see what you took to be the most important concept in the book.
